Just sold a PLEX thing, I'd like to to get into pvp

As the title says, I decided to buy and sell a plex.

Now that I have some funds, I'm interested in fitting cheap throw away ships with cheap throw away mods.

Any frigate or maybe destroyer fits that are usable by an extremely low skilled pilot would be wonderful.

thanks.

I recommend a destroyer. With low skills you are still dangerous to veteran frigs and are still going to get away from the escapable (read no interceptor) encounters. Plus they are pretty simple to fit. Rack of guns? Check. Basic buffer tank? Good enough. It's barely more expensive than a frig so might as well. Meta 2-3 tends to be the sweet spot on price/performance for cheap fits, on a module by module basis.

thrasher

largest artillery you can fit

mid:
microwarp (or ab if you can only do this)
scram
web

low:
damage control
gyro

rigs
whatever, damage preferably

just fit it cheap, try to 'kite' at your optimal range, which should be about the edge of scram range (learn thermodynamics its incredibly useful to a new player) and see how you do

Join RvB, learn basics. Leave, do solo work or join a GOOD pvp corp.

Don't blob, unless you wish to be bad forever.

Before even thinking about the cheap PvP fits I think you should address one common stumbling block. Given that you felt you "had" to spend real funds to make imaginary money before starting suggests that you suffer from a very basic mental block over the "value" of the pixels and some imaginary funding threshold for entry into PvP and eve losses.

There is no actual correlation between pixels in eve and any real value or worth. As such any amount of funds can (should?) get you out of hisec and into PvP.

Far too many players, myself most especially included, have trouble early on getting past the "loss" reaction when PvP or anything causes that shiny new hull to burst. As such they think that they must either spend more to be "better" or just avoid the activity all together.

Starting out to fly cheap is wise don't take me wrong. It is mandatory in fact. But do not lose site of the idea that its a game and what not. That leads to tears and lol posts in other forums.

As your ability to buy grows so does your ability to lose it spectacularly! For my own experience it was the loss of a lol fit risk averse travel legion that finally got me past the sinking gut when I did something stupid. Once past that PvP became far more enjoyable.

bad advice is bad. there is nothing more pathetic than people who play eve as a second job. if OP enjoys making isk, he can do so but most people prefer to PVP 24/7 and there is nothing wrong with that.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Despite my overall bad track record for PVP not once have I been killed by a destroyer because they're lack luster without support and easily kited. They also have about the same amount of tank as a frig, if not less. Try a brawler fit frigate with ancillary rep systems. It'll run about 3-4 mill meta 1 fit, bit more if you go meta 4.

What Dani said.

Here's what I want you to do, OP:

1. Grab 20-100x (insert cheap ship)
2. go out there and lose them to the best of your ability. No, I don't mean fight in them, I mean LOSE them. Fly them until you blow up.
3. There is no 3, you've just learnt the basics of pvp.

Viable PvP frigs can be fitted for under 2.5 mil a piece, sometimes even under 1.5 mil. Lose a few dozens of those first, than climb up the price tag. If you need help with fittings, I am happy to help.

Now use your money stuff to buy a ship thing and shoot bullet things at other pilot guys.

There's nothing worse than an EVE player, generally considered to be top of the food chain in the MMO world, that cannot smacktalk with wit and coherency.

I kinda agree with this. It's not necessarily bad advice though because you don't want to be too worried about losing ships which some may do if they spend money.

I myself spent plex to help with my learning pvp budget. I did so for the reason mentioned above, I work a LOT and can't be on eve 24/7 so I wanted to pvp without having to spend 8 hours straight earning isk just to be able to not worry when I lost 20 ships back to back. Now since I set aside half a million for "i'm going to lose this money" I really don't care when I blow up, in fact I find that I'm willing to fight where as 99% of the people I encounter are too terrified for any fight that's even remotely close.

*a tip as well: Buy a big hauler ship. figure out your fit in advance then buy enough parts to fit 10 of those exact fits. it'll all fit in the haulter. then go somewhere where there's action and buy 10 of the ship you plan on using. The reason is the ships themselves won't fit in your hauler but you definitely don't want to be paying the crazy price on modules out in action zones so you'll save a lot doing it this way. Also fitting 10 ships exactly the same means you can learn without having to adjust to new fitting each fight. And with 10 pre purchased you can jump right back in without flying all over the verse doing shopping after you lose a ship.

tip 2: you can save a fitting in the fitting window so that when you fly your pod back to where you have all your stuff you just open the fittiing browser and select it to throw it all together. then just add ammo and drones and you're good to go quickly.

If you think making isk is a "second job" then you are doing it wrong and terrible at the game.

this

if you enjoy pve do it (rly? who enjoys pve in this game :O)
pvp is the fun and buying gtc to support it is the way to go
1 should be enough for a month or more if you dont use lame pimp ships ,cheap ships can do nearly as good so less isk needed, oh and if you get the loot of a pimper it is even better

oh and buying gtc is way more effective than working in game to get isk for 99% of people

if i add it up it is 20+hours/week and thats a lot just to support the pvp

oh and dont go for winmatar , use anything but the babymode minmatar ships

You can play eve as a job and your life, or you can play it as a game. I prefer the second option.

I'd recommend upgrading to a navy frigate after you get the combat frig of that race set up good (kestrel to hookbill, Tristan or incursus to comet, etc.
