Confused about Fast Talk skill

I trained lvl 1 of fast talk. So I should have a 5% bonus to effective security status. Before I trained the skill I had -4.71 sec status. Now that I've trained Fast Talk 1, I've got -4.71 sec status. Am I missing something?

Fast talk increases amount of Sec Status gain. Rather than your overall status.

Look at the two skills Connections and Social

If you have a problem with your low security status then you shouldn't have griefed in the first place.

Null-Sec needs to HTFU and stop crying to CCP. If null-sec wants PvP, they need to stop being carebears and start fighting eachother - after years of bot-mining, they have the ships!

Null sec fights don't just stay in null sec. I'll some is from a bit of griefing . But most is from pvp.

Also, I was asking for clarification about a skill, not a commentary on my security status and what actions may have led to it. Hence posting it in Q&A.

If your security status is negative, training Diplomacy give an immediate improvement in the manner the OP believed Fast Talk would work.

Fast Talk comes into effect when you are clawing back your security status. In the main that mean ratting. One (the biggest) NPC rat kill per system per 15 minutes will improve your security status. Training Fast Talk makes that improvement better.
