Those people could redeem their PLEX for game time even though CCP was not actually making money. So how long would the servers stay up for in that situation.

The server would only have to stay up for 45 days. That's how long the PLEX stockpile would last if everyone who currently uses PLEX to subscribe their accounts would continue doing so.

"The liquidity of the PLEX market (the number of PLEXes on the market at any time) has been increasing steadily, while the price volatility is down. The inventory of PLEXes in the game has been steadily increasing, but so has monthly usage. The current inventory represents about 45 days’ worth of usage, and on a typical day, there are about 4000 PLEX trades on the in-game market." CSM Summit Minutes, Winter 2012, page 102

The figure doubled since PLEX stockpile figures were published the last time a few years ago.

As an investor type, im very interested to see where this strategy takes us, I could certainly benefit from this experience.

What the hell happened to this thread. Its turned into a battleground on whether or not ccp cares about customers more then money. By customers i mean the thousands playing for free through plex.

I'm not a low-sec roamer, i just need to blow off some steam every now and then.

Well I started this thread as a discussion whether PLEX was like the real world specie of gold which many think is a good hedge against inflation thinking we might now be in a deflationary period. If all customers only used PLEX for 'free' game time then gold wouldn't be a good analogy for PLEX.

Let's say Eve is an independent island nation in the south pacific with no export economy. The sole source of foreign currency is tourism, but sometimes those tourists come to visit and "go native" living off the land and no longer bringing in outside currency. If the tourism industry is booming, outside money keeps coming in (PLEX) boosting the value of the local currency (isk) causing the outside dollars to appear to be cheaper to the locals. If the local government does something to turn tourists away or doesn't do anything to attract them, outside dollars become scarce and go up in value.

Sub 500M isk PLEX is a very good sign for Eve and the Eve economy. As one of those foreign tourists "gone native" I was happy to pay 540-550M isk for a big pile of PLEX a few months back. I am not at all concerned that those PLEX are now worth a measly 500M. The only thing I really worry about with Eve is that the new tourists will eventually stop coming and my built up wealth will all be worthless and meaningless.

I'm doubting PLEX will go sub 500m again even during this summer's 'doldrums'Attention
