An idea for CCP on Ganking

CCP Please move this if it don't belong here.

Being a lurker and sometimes poster of the Forums, I figured I'd toss this one out.

It goes like this. The biggest complaint i've seen (and subject of much contoversy and discussion) Is the Suicide Gank.
The major complaint is there is no real defence agianst this, if a ganker wants you, your toast.

so while driving along this popped into my head. A Flag with a timer wich would basicly say Concord has washed its hands from you and you are free game,Concord will not go after your killer. Specificly if you attack and kill another ship, for a limited but long time you would be free game, say 24hr.
and thats just for the first kill. every kill after that the timer gets worse.

Now try and gank a miner when he can drone you but you still cant touch him cause he doesn't have the flag.

Now this would be on a caracter by caracter basis, though I would like to see by accounts Lol Never happen though.

Also i do see the Fiction of rerolling a caracter after the timer becomes effectively infinent, cant say anything to that, just adds to the idea of making ganking a little more annoying. And the fact that the first gank is free, You have to condem yourself with this.

so let the Flames commence.

Pretty sure you get a 15min criminal flag for doing something that attracts CONCORD...

And there is plenty you can do about a ganker... you just have to be paying attention, and proactive...

There is no such thing as a fair fight...

If your fighting fair you have automatically put yourself at a disadvantage.

I believe what you are describing is called "security status." And -10's still gank people.

My suicide character is -10 and as he flies around people are able to shoot at him 24/7/365.

So... what is the idea when people can already shoot at minus chars? Weekend warriors who are not minus -10 get a killright on him which can be activated at anytime. Which some people have learned the hard way when I find them doing missions in a rattlesnake.

If only there were some part of space where you could freely defend yourself from a suicide ganker before they attacked without having CONCORD get all up in your ****...

Yes, if someone in this game really wants your character's ship to become wreckage (and maybe your pod), odds are you're dead. However, there is a defense... don't AFK, don't auto-pilot, pay attention to local, fit some sort of tank... even if it's just a DCU, fit something.

Suicide ganking is all about time. The more you increase that time, the less likely you're going to be chosen as a target. And as other people have stated, -10 can already be engaged by anyone, anywhere. Most suicide characters are already -10 and if they're not, they're on their way to becoming -10, or they quit ganking.

You discussed Concord, what about Facpo?

Who has the flag? At first looked like the ganker, but the statement about not being able to attack the miner brought up a question, are you suggesting multiple flags? One on the ganker that resembles what -5.5's already face and a flag on potential gankable targets? Those that can/can't be ganked? Did I read that right, maybe I'm just too tired, sorry in advance.

Suicide ganking is already at an all time low and the disgusting themepark bears are still crying that it needs even bigger penalties.

Why don't you just go play another god damned game, this one clearly isn't for you

Actually read the OP's idea for some reason. I think he may be living under a rock somewhere. CCP already implemented this in the form of transferable killrights. When you start ganking people, pretty soon you will have publicly available killrights on you. And of course, if you go -10 then it is irrelevant anyway.

I agree with you that suicide ganking needs to be fixed, though. They need to make it easier. It has already been nerfed to the point where only a dedicated few people are still doing it, the last thing that it needs are more nerfs.

Many gankers are already free game, roaming around at -5 sec status, it wouldn't change a thing for them.

It is called suicide ganking because the ganker doesn't care about any flag, they lose their ship anyway.

Exactly when your char gets to -10 concord should just leave you alone as players are free to engage you. They should jsut stop concording you and deem you a lost cause which will allow you to gank other players non stop.

On this note I warped into a level 4 mission and about 10 battleshipsa agro'd me without concord insta popping them but when I try to gank a freighter concord kills me? What gives, I wan't to give up my capusaler status so I can gank freely in high sec.

I believe reading this is in order, OP.

You've missed a few steps.

Damned near all of the New Order Knights are permanent -10s.

So the OP can attack them in highsec at any time.

But since we are all basically Kamikazes, the threat of having the OP killmail "share" with CONCORD while we are killing our target doesn't bother us.
