Just outta curiosity asking people opinions. If new line of destroyers would have T2 analogs what kind of role they might take beside interdiction?

It is impossible to say and you can guess the answer just as good as anybody else can, because most of the roles are independent of the ship class. They could have almost any role and interdiction is not something that is specific to destroyers.

With T2 frigates it is only called "Interceptors" and with cruisers it is "Heavy Interdictors" but it is all kind of the same role with a different label. So a new T2 destroyer can be covert ops, black ops, assault, combat, logistics or e-war.

If you want to know more, try Ships & Modules.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

Heavy stealth bombers?

Judging from the looks of these things, it appears they would be capable of having a large payload.

+1 to this, I like the idea of the WWII role of DD's, hunting down subs (and it seems that bombers in EVE are pretty much the same as subs were).

Just wait until the partisans against cloaking changes read this and they'll fill five pages with the repeating the same few points over and over again and then declare victory.

Heavy stealth bombers...capable of 2 bomb launchers and citadel torpedos......

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Forget T2, how about Navy Destroyers? Navy Battlecruisers? Heck, Navy Industrials for that matter. It's not like punching a few numbers into CCP's spreadsheets and slapping on some new paint jobs needs to be a two year project.

I would prefer they make an upsized regular Stealth Bomber Hull and make a T1 Torpedo Boat and T2 Heavy Stealth Bomber. Destroyers were literally designed to hunt larger ships with Torpedo's and I would like a T1 version. Shouldn't be to hard to modify the model, maybe just lengthen or widen it to add a forth launcher.

Then make another role for the Tier 2 ones for Tier 2's like Hunting them... or give them Jump Drives or a plain old Assault Ship type thing except Destroyer sized.

While I like that idea for a new Destroyers using them as sub hunters in WWII was considered wasteful for a few reasons.

1. They were armored to protect against shell fire which did nothing to stop a Torpedo.
2. They had large and powerful engines for their main purpose Torpedo Runs while Subs were slow on the surface and dead slow underwater.
3. They were well armed with a lot of surface firepower. Not a thing needed when a sub is an unarmored tube with an AA Gun.
4. They were larger then they needed to be to carry just Depth Charges, Sonar and Defensive Guns which is all they needed.
5. They required larger crews to run all these non sub hunting gear and engines.

In other words Destroyers were expensive and their other roles such as Surface Fire, AA, Radar Picket and Torpedo Strikes / Torpedo Defense were needed elsewhere. Nothing says keep those Heavy Cruisers away from our Aircraft Carrier quite like a half dozen Destroyers. Reassigning a large ship like a Destroyer to puttle around chasing subs or hanging around merchant ships where in they could be sunk with a single torpedo and lose everything else that made them valuable as well as expensive was a bad idea.

While they did also help screen fleets with Sonar and Depth Charges mostly because there were a lot of them in fleets where they belonged the main role of Sub Hunting went to Corvettes, Chasers, Escorts and a return of an old favorite that hadn't been seen since oh, sailing times the Frigate. Frigates were brought back specifically for the role.

Now the British used Destroyers in WWII for sub hunts more then other nations but the Germans had like 10 Capital Ships and over 1200 U-Boats during that war. Still they preferred to keep them for destroying Motor Torpedo Boats and German Destroyers as well as fighting the Italians. They even got 50 US WWI Destroyers from America in Lend Lease for the purpose of Hunting Subs because the Destroyers were really, really bad at being Destroyers. They were obsolete compared to new Destroyers, what they could do was cross the Ocean easier then smaller Corvettes so they sent them to kill U-Boats like the Frigates they were building to get more real Destroyers off Sub Hunting.

Since EVE is not real life or even tries to be accurate at all none of that matter to anything but it is fun for really boring parties. Also Battlecruiser... really about the same size or larger then most Battleships in real life.

Smart bomb specialization ships.

Hell there used to be mines in Eve. Lets bring them back and have tech 2 variant mine laying destroyers.

... / Mine Sweeper. One where they need to be close like 5000 Meters to detect it then use a Code Breaker like module to disarm it.

Mines should be cloaked and both AOE and Single Target. The Higher the Dmg the less AOE range and single targets ranging from accurate against small moving targets with moderate dmg to Battlecruiser or even Battleship wreckers. People can just build massive Mine Fields all over Null and Wormhole Space. Twisted

Decloakers.

10 - 20 km range of effect depending on skill (you still need a module for that ofc).
