Fleet leading and small gang

Hello there,

We've just (2-3 weeks) restart eve with some friends and we wish to create a small gang for PvP/low sec PvE.
We're basicaly 3 to 4 for the moment, and we already tryied some "tactics" (big word for " trying not to make it look like a complete mess") and we arrive at something not too bad imo:

I'm "leading" fleet: warping them to gate, anomalies etc, then they attack and i stay forward, assignating target wich suits my comrades fitts, giving a pinch on hard point and, more importantly, having constantly an eye on the local chan and a finger on the "warp fleet " to the jump gate.

My question is, what can i do to help them more effectivly in game ?

-I was thinking of a Maulus with some drones/drone fitt (controle range extender etc...) to use the greater lock distance he gives me and using his electronic warfare capabilities to counter a pirate and give my team time.
Maybe caldari's hability is better for that ?
Having an ECM drones set ?

Or a stealth bomber, for the cloaking hability and a "surprise!" firepower against bad ugly newbs killer of doom (kidding).

Is it a good idea to train leadership and other sub skills for this role ?

Is there any use for guys like me in PVP ?

When I ran fleets I flew a Lachesis or a Huginn in shield/nano gangs, fast good buffer and resists and the Ability to point/Web down the primary.

When running heavier armour gangs I used to FC from a Loki, big buffer, low sig and huge resists + the ability to hold down targets you call or are about to call.

It really depends on the size and composition of your gang, I would recommend not an ECM boat, or anything tankless like a Maulus.

In smaller gangs these days, particularly in my current corp we tend not to have FCs as such, were all relatively able players and we all chip in and keep things in check, that can often be a better way of doing things in gangs that are smaller, particularly if you are familiar with each others tactics quirks and weaknesses.

This is my preference with things as well. Eventually people should learn how to make decisions properly that everything doesn't need to be completely micromanaged.
