I've always been of the opinion that if you're not posting to help or answer the OP's question, then why have they bothered to post in the first place? Oh yeah, its cause they're a ****. Such people's responses aren't even worthy of the time it takes to read them. Which i find extra funny, considering that it probably takes them more time to read your thread, and write their useless non-helpful reply.

I like to think that i've wasted their time! Thats always a nice feeling. Cool

Generally given enough time someone who is nice and helpful will respond and answer your question. Its at this point that you yourself can reply, thank them for their help, and continue to ignore all the other morons that have "contributed" to the thread.

This should be made a sticky mods ^^ :)

Too complicated. Give people fish, show them how to fish, and when they are still here hit them with fish.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

"Google it" generally translates to "I don't know either but I want to open my mouth anyway". I'm in help channel a lot and also on the newbie forums and overall it goes reasonably well, it's just that sometimes there's some shouty clown who wants to be heard resulting is ****** answers, "help" and trolling.

Thing is that some answers just take too much to type out because it's too elaborate or specific and in that case "use the wiki" possibly followed by a link to it is fine. "Google it" never is a valid answer.

It does not matter what it translates to. I use Google a lot and it is the best help you can get. It even finds threads on the EVE forums for you. Most browsers then have a small box where one can directly do a Google search. Even if you had 10 CCP devs standing next to you would Google often beat them to the answer.

Actually, it is more like hit them with fish, hit them with fish again, then hit anyone who answers the question with fish, then thread eventually devolves into giant fish hitting party, finally ISD comes along and hits everyone with a giant fish. :)

Don't worry, I have a fish BPO.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

This thread could have been avoided by a simple google and/or forum search and maybe a biomassing for good measure.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

How hard is it to reply to someone?

I mean it only took a few ounces of brain energy for me to hit reply and post forth this garbage.

I mean if saving your fat fingers from exercise was your point, then why type "google it" in the first place.

Why not just ignore the thread all together?

If you have nothing helpful to say, then you shouldn't post it. Sadly, the moderators on these forums allow certain trolls to run rampant and treat people like crap all the time. It has been going on for years. At most, the trolling is "removed" or "cleaned". Moderators swoop in like mommy to clean up after the children make a big mess.

What needs to happen, is penalty for repeated trolling. Sure, some have been banned in the past (by character name). Considering how easy it is to make a new forum troll, this does nothing.

Note: I assure you that a moderator/gm/whatever will come along and "clean" this post because they hate to see anything posted about forum moderation (regardless of the content).

Unfortunately, every new person question posted in GD will be met with the same handful of trolls that attack every new idea, every question and every single post that leaves an opening for a jerk to step into. It is not coincidence that most of the troll-plague list looks a lot like the top 10 posters (not all, but many).

Crime, it is not a "career", it is a lifestyle.

The problem is that with EVE most of the online sources are full of kittens.

Not that the forums are full of kittens, but you get a more personal experience by those who have experience.

You know "googling" decreases social interaction in a multiplayer game.

Instead of playing that single player game all alone you should be getting the most of your $14.99 by actually communicating with other players on things. In game chat, forums, and even team speak.

When I am on teamspeak. I ask the question that I want to get a conversation started about it. I could have googled it and stayed quiet, but then I'd be playing internet spaceships all by myself.

Also, sometimes a player will give you that extra bit of information that google won't give based on their personal experience.

Well if you weren't going to provide a real answer to the real question, then why bother post anyways? Maybe you like banging away at the keyboards to make yourself feel important.

Hell... If you want to be sure of yourself why not do the google search yourself and post the link and instructional video explaining that all answers must imperically be on the first page of any google search and that google is infallible and serves to replace any and all human interaction that comes up in your daily life.

I mean if your mom or dad called you and asked you to help with a computer question, would you tell them to just "google it"? Do you tell your significant other (if you have any) to "google it" when they ask you a question about how to do an activity around the house? Well probaly since most of you people are horrible persons.

That explains so much.

But you should give the New Player forums more credit, there are also people posting there who aren't actively terrible.

I do not post in the Q&A section. No idea where Jill got that from.

You must be new here. Hi, I'm Ginger, and I dislike lazy people. EveO doesn't have an Easy Mode Button; if you want to do something, you need to get off yer arse and read a little something about it. As someone who watches Help Chat often, I can categorically SAY that people are, INDEED, lazy, and don't even bother Google'ing...

1. Wiki (http://wiki.eveonline.com)
2. Google
3. Ask in Help Chat

When all those have failed to teach you what you are looking for, by all means, hit the Forums and start a good thread (not the usual crap we see in GD). You'll get much better results.

Yeah, GD is almost as bad.
