Cool story, shame these Polish noobs were giving passwords out so that when they were offline their allince could run bots on the account. Sharing accounts is considered RMT you'll get banned for it.

Account cracking (I'm quoting the UK version of the law, the computer misuse act). :

Accessing a computer system either physically or remotely without authorisation is a criminal offence in the United Kingdom and a felony in the united states of america, it also happens to be a fairly serious crime throughout the rest of the world.

I don't know if you've figured this out, but accessing an account that does not belong to you 'without authorisation' falls under this set of legislation and the sentence if convicted whilst not life ending, is not exactly any fun.

I don't understand this mentality of 'pixel spaceships'. The internet is a set of different protocols of tiny data packets being sent from one machine to another, how does the fact that you're using a client to play an online game differ from the legislation that governs the usage of the internet? It doesn't. Attempting to access someone else's eve online account has little difference in comparison to accessing a facebook account without permission, they both hold sensitive and personal information.

Play with your own accounts, using your own gaming rigs. If you stick to that rule falling foul of various legislation is very difficult to do. No shared accounts, no shared passwords. Just play, with your own account, like CCP have specified that are you required to do in order to continue to use their services. Don't be a smart ass, don't argue, just do it.

Play the game, NOT the system.
