Minmatar History

I joined this game with the intention of creating a character which felt believable in the EVE Universe. To really get into a game I believe you need to use your imagination as much as the creative minds of the developers themselves.

Minmatar seemed like a good choice to me and I did a little research on their history using the Wiki and other sources through the main site. The Sebiestor Tribe are meant to be fair skinned so I created a fair skinned character. Learned all about how they get their tattoos and how much it means to them. Today I read about Maleatu Shakor and Karin Midular and it has left me wanting to learn more.

Don't get me wrong, I do not role play and have no intention to. But I really am fascinated by the Minmatar history and am asking really for more places to look, read and find out about them. Not interested in fan fiction mind you, just the stuff the developers have in their own minds.

Any links, references or websites you can link to me to learn more would be greatly appreciated. Especially the Sebiestor tribe Big smile +1 to everyone with posts that contribute well.

Sorry for how long winded this is, and thanks in advance.

The site you have there has a lot of potential and thanks again for the link. I have unfortunately read all that info before but it is nice to see someone trying to put it all together.

When I visited the portal which is stickied to the top of the forum all the links were broken. Now it seems to work so there is some new stuff for me to check out. Would really love to read more about the Sebiestor tribe though but the information out there seems to be very limited. Sad

Are there any books I can read which are interwoven with the lore of the game? Books that are 100% with CCP's view of EVE?

If you haven't already checked, it could be worthwhile going through the list of official EVE Chronicles Unfortunately it's just a list of 200+ titles, with no index for subject or content. But a few are obviously Minmatar-themed (e.g. "Methods of Torture - the Minmatar," "Khumaak," and "Maleatu Shakor.") And other pieces with titles about slavery and/or Amarr have some content about Minmatar also.

My take on the Minmatar is that they were the roamers of humanity who came through the gate, the vagabonds and gypsies of all races who's ship systems are always on the verge of failing for lack of adequite repair and supply sources.

They express themselves through the nautilus, which means sailor. A nautilus is a creature that spends it's entire life floating in the ocean, the ultimate nomad. Most of the racial symbolism seems to relate to the nautilus as well. The Brutor symbol is a "open" or lensless eye, which the nautilus posseses. Much of the others show evidence of the nautilus' tentacles, and the Thukker symbol places an artistic Compass between the tentacles. They obviously revere the creature.

It's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then, and it's a poor sort of memory that only works backward.
