Need advice on a fast semi gank-proof ship for hauling approx 4000m3 around jita.

Hi,
I need to make a few runs soon out and in of Jita with with 4000m3 goods worth around 200mil.
Since I don't need to go far I can split it into smaller pieces.

Now what kind of ship would I go for? is there some kind of risk/reward ratio gankers use?
I mean to gank a very sturdy ship the ganker also needs a more expensive throw away ship to blow up the vicim before
the CONCORD kills him.

Option A)
use the strongest possible ship I can fly and take everything in one go. This probably makes me a target for a ganking group.

Option B)
I take a smaller ship but still somewhat sturdy ship (so that the solo cheap ganker can't kill me) and take lets say 50mil per run
so that the gank-group in more powerful ships don't see me as a viable target.

What would be good ship for this in the T1 (max cruiser) range? I can fly a Badger II. Should I make a tank version of it?
At what cargo value do gankers start licking their lips?

I plan using a safespot warp out bookmark and then continue from there. What about when I approach the station with warp to 0 and spam dock.. is that somewhat safe?

Thanks for any advice. Using a contracting corp for the transport is not an option.

kind regards

200 million in a T1 hauler is enough for somebody to gank you, even with a tank it will still be a cost-effective gank. I'd say courier contract but you say that's not an option. A blockade runner would be able to do it easily but I don't think you can fly one. If t1 cruiser is your best option the get something like a Moa, fit it for max EHP + cargo expanders and make a few trips. An alpha nado can do around 10k volley and costs a little less than 100mil, do the math.

that was the math I was looking for. so a tornado could blow me up? I have my badger fitted now. around 18k EHP and shields armor and hull is in the 60% for all dmg types. Shouldnt that hold agains a 10k volley? dividin the cargo into 2 trips is no issue at all. I was more worried I need to split it into 10 trips to lower the odds.

Your greatest defence was secrecy but you just blew that and made yourself a target.

Better use an alt now :-P

eh, just use an orca, they would need like 15 tornados to blow that up

Create a instant warp bookmark for the station and use a blockade runner. Always cloak, every jump, all the way. They will not even get the chance to lock you for a cargo scan, let alone the gank.

I mean, if it works for low-sec, it should be save for high-sec.

200 Mil is f*ck all. I can't believe anyone would waste their time.

A high tank badger should do it.

A Tornado doing 10k volley mean that you can "safely" hold between 100 and 200M value of hold with enough tank to survive one volley of a Tornado. At 200M, 2 Tornado can kill you and still make a profit (though they may prefer a safer try, so 200M is still rather ok).

Just a slight amendment here: blockade runners can no longer be cargo scanned. So it's shoot first and ask questions later. Should still be fine though.

you can still die to an instalock, if you don't believe me you can ask a certain 650mm superhero that resides in amamake, he'll teach ya how.

anyway, if you really are this paranoid use red frog. or warp from 4-4 to another station in system and move the goods out of system on a different day. if someone scanned you at undock they wont have you on kill list at the gates the next day.

Use Red Frog if you're really paranoid, and don't mind waiting 24 hours or so for delivery.

For T1 hauling, since you can already fly a Badger Mk2, might as well use it. Fill the mids with as many medium shield extenders as you can, remainder with invulns, damage control and core defense field extender rigs. That should allow you to survive at least one and probably two Tornadoes or Taloses, and should deter most random gank attempts. If you make two trips, no-one will bother ganking you for profit.

If you're hauling cargo under 15,000m3 a lot in high-sec, consider training for a shield-tanked deep space transport, such as a Bustard or a Prowler. They have good cargoholds, and are rather difficult to gank when properly tanked. The armor-tanked are bad, for obvious reasons; they were a terrible idea, and the person who came up with them should feel bad.

Use Red Frog

QFT. Honestly to me it's not even about the risk, it's about the time. In the amount of time it would take me to safely move large volumes of stuff I could have made far more isk than what I'd pay Red Frog to move it.

For example if you pay Red Frog 7 million isk to move something it would take you an hour to move yourself, and you can make 10 million isk an hour doing anything else, you actually make 3 million paying Red Frog and as a bonus Red Frog is assuming the risk for you in the form of collateral.
