There is a level 1 mission arc (5 missions long) called "Fair Play" which introduces players to pirates, smack talk, can flipping and gate camping.

Very nice, thank you!

"Fair Play" is a 5-part level 1 mission arc. The five missions introduce you to the concept of:

  1. Overstated intel (i.e.: you are tasked with taking out a dangerous pirate, who is just one guy in a frigate locking down a system)
  2. Smacktalk (i.e.: pirate abuses you personally, then tells you to fly a real ship)
  3. Gate camping (i.e.: sit at a spot and blow up the poor sucker who appears)
  4. Can flipping (the only goal of the mission is to steal the ore from the pirate's can)
  5. Blobbing (you take part in a DED mission to take out the pirates, the pirates are flying a half-dozen frigates, DED arrives with a dozen battleships, cruisers, and you)

I feel this is a step in the right direction on CCP's part in terms of PvE content.

PS: being a level 1 mission, anyone with more than 2M SP will find it a walk in the park. My alts just breeze through in destroyers or assault frigates. I just wanted to make sure that CCP knew that someone appreciates the effort that went into designing this cute little arc. It's so precious to see the pirate talking itself up even as the three light missiles that are about to wipe its ship out are half way to the target.

They're doing it wrong, it should be:

-Understated intel: you are tasked with taking out a dangerous pirate off jita undock, who is just one guy with three dozen neut rrs.
-Smacktalk: pirate abuses you personally, and does not undock.
-Gate camping: you get taken out by bubblecamp.
-Can flipping: your can got flipped, then your hulk gets taken out by a catalyst
-Blobbing: your shuttle gets hotdropped on by titan blob.

This mission is not new, most level 1 security agents can give it out from time to time. It's been around at least since Incursion when I started playing.

I thought the mission design was worth commenting about. I am running L1 missions a fair bit these days, just for something different.
