I have already posted this in New Player Forums as i was unable to post here.

Three days ago my trial was due to expire and to be honest i wasn't intending on subbing.....

Until i decided to see what Low Sec had to offer. I went into a low sec system and hit the D-Scan and a retriever popped up, using my terrible scanner skills i managed to bumble my way to finding which belt he was in.

Now i have read alot about this side of the game and thought well a trial is to trial and warped to the belt. I warped in hit approach and activated the warp disruptor...nothing, i hit the disruptor again...nothing. All the time the retriever sat there drones buzzing around him, mining. One more attempt, before i realised the safety catch was on!!

Disengage the safety, hit disruptor ,retriever hooked.

I got into n orbit and hit the Autocannons initially trying to take down the drones. Then i realised that the drone damage was not quite what i was expecting and i might be able to take the barge before my own ship went pop.

Thankfully this turned out to be a correct assupmtion and he soon went pop, and a little pod sat where once a barge did. I seized the oppurtunity to trial anothr part off Eve the ransom, hooked the pod and convod the pilot asking for a small donation of 2million ISK.

"F**K OFF YOU ASSH**E"

Was his reply. I had initially told him he had thirty seconds and being an honourable guy i did ,then being a man of my words i helped expediate his journey to his home station.

I was not proud of the kill as such as it was just a mining barge with some drones that did attempt some form of fight, rather it was the choice words from the customer after i asked him for a small donation that hooked me.

UPDATE AND THEN IM GONE

So today would of been my last da y in Eve had i not taken the bull by the horns plunged through the rabbit hole into low-sec and met my saviour in the form of a retriever.

In the last week of my trial period (i have now subbed) i have roamed around low-sec, destroyed a mining barge and its occupant. Ive had some close calls both as the aggressor and the defender. I got my first combat kill, with some help in the end Big smile

Today i scrammed a drake in a belt with a slasher and did enough to worry the occupant into parting with 10 Mill to save his ship - that would of looked nice on the Killboard, but ISK is ISK.

I have read over the last few days that Eve is not accessable to new players i would disagree.

I would also like to say a big thankyou to those that have convod me with tips and advice and more.

If it's undocked, it's a target.

Well done on your first solo kill.

You'll get used to killing, and soon, you won't feel bad about it anymore.

Fine gentlemen,

be proud of what you achieved here. It´s nothing less then winning eve (at this very day, beeing the hunter, you won eve for yourself).

Shout it out loud and proud: My trial-period wasn´t over when i went to lowsec and killed a mining barge!.

tl;dr: Welcome to EvE

If you like killing mining barges a lot, I could certainly find a home for you :)

Oh and copy this into the Pirate Stories thread. Be good to have a player's first kill in there.

I can only really echo what other people have said already:

Welcome to Eve.

You might feel bad about it now but before long when you see a retriever on a belt you'll warp in on your chariot of death screaming 'yarr!' and pop them with extreme prejudice.

A newbie with a clue? In my EVE?

Congratulations, man, there is nothing like the thrill of the hunt.

One question though, what do you think your heart rate was at?

Good fight, man.

Listen to the Cannibal, he'll hook you up with the good stuff.

Hell, he may even tell you who his hairstylist is...Cool

Everything in EVE is a trap.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

While im not a pirate, and would probably be considered as fairly carebear.....

Welcome to Eve... you are doing it right, and you already 'get Eve' more than most people.

Its so refreshing to read stuff like this, rather than new players complaining that they have to sit in a station for 3 months doing nothing but earning skillpoints before then can 'do anything'.

Welcome to Eve. I find the hunt is the best part. It is better when it is a combat ship, but a miner in low sec unaligned who does not warp off in the time it took you to change your safety and fire, thy deserve to be shot.

Congratulations indeed. You'll find that many capsuleers have an attitude problem when being targeted. I don't know why it is that a man has a tendency to yell insults when in crosshairs.

Anyway to say you were in your trial period when this was accomplished is impressive and I'm glad you chose to stay.

As a die hard Eve industrialist, I say to you..

Welcome to Eve.

That retriever had it coming to him.. letting someone get into the belt and in point range.. then being targetted..
With plenty of time even then to warp out.. you got a kill. Kudo's for that.. and thank you for applying some much needed
practical darwinism to your target.

While I can't reallty direct you to any pirate groups, as I'm not very well connected with 'the enemy', I'm sure there's plenty of people here.

But as my welcome token to your first steps on being a pirate.. please enjoy the bounty I'm placing on your head for your actions.

Oh, and if you're in need of new weapons, modules, ships or whatever, please don't hesitate to drop me a line if you're in the solitude region of space.

Does railgun ammunition come in Hollow Point?

DPS will increase as you train combat skills. There is a huge difference in the damage between having mostly 2-3 gunnery skills with several not injected, and what you will do with mostly 4s and a couple 5s (which is where I am at now). Add in tech 2 weapons (which are a longish train) and you will be dangerous indeed.

Play around with different ships too until you find one that works for you. For me I lost at least three Enyos before I even got one kill with one, and I learned that the Vexor is the ship of choice for me. Now I'll happily engage two people in lowsec at once if I'm in a Vexor and they are in tech 1 hulls.
