you've made the choice to live with the illussion that CCP don't pay their devs to work, that's not my problem, that's yours.

At what point did I say that? This might be a complete surprise to you, but making stuff up doesn't give your argument anymore weight than a rant post about a non-issue would. Refer to the OP for an example.

this thread is about torrents vs html downloads and what it means if they go with torrents.

I'll spoil this for you: The amount of people who will complain about this will be statistically insignificant, and the amount of said complainers who will actually DO something drastic i.e. unsub will be counted on one hand.

There, you can close the thread now.

Says the guy playing hissyfit semantic games because someone dared mention that Eve doesn't charge for its expansions unlike literally every other MMO in the world that has expansions.

this thread is about torrents vs html downloads and what it means if they go with torrents.

It means you won't actually be forced to upload data to other people (because you can actually turn it off or limit the bandwidth yourself) & everyone will get that new patch a lot faster. Apparently this is an issue for some people. This is why we can't have nice things.

My only problem with torrent distrobution is, now I have to create a ruleset on the company firewall to bypass the other ruleset to block P2P torrent traffic and allow me to update my workstation.

*sigh*

You're playing EVE at work?

I said that expansions & patches were free, not that CCP employees work for free. You appear to be confused.

If EVE expansions aren't 'free', what are WoW expansions? Double paid for?

When comparing quality of expansions between CCPs to WoWs, it works out. Regardless of if you actually "like" WoW or not, their expansions are actually worth the price, where it would be a joke to even try and sell any Eve expansions. Minus Apocraphya.

I can, and will if it becomes a problem, limit the upload rate for anything running on my own network. So this, for me, is a non-issue, like I said in the first post I made.

why use firewall rules to control the bandwidth usage, when it's so much more fun to whine on the forum about a feature which we have not even had the chance to test.

You also need to learn how to read. Posting on a forum, in a topic started by someone else on a subject that's up for discussion is whining? Anything that goes against your notion of "how it should be" is whining? :)

I think you misunderstood the objective of a forum. Let me enlighten you.

1.
a. The public square or marketplace of an ancient Roman city that was the assembly place for judicial activity and public business.
b. A public meeting place for open discussion.
c. A medium for open discussion or voicing of ideas, such as a newspaper, a radio or television program, or a website.
2. A public meeting or presentation involving a discussion usually among experts and often including audience participation.
3. A court of law; a tribunal.

I'm exposing my point on view on this subject. If this is considered whining, then you have some kind of comprehension problem that I cannot help you with.

ps just to annoy OP: In my third world country (in Europe Smile)I pay 5$ in a month for 5Mbit/3Mbit broadband connection without any traffic limitation. 16 cents in a day is the reason to be greedy and not share your upload connection?

That's nice. In the USA you're really, really lucky if you're paying less than $50 a month for the same thing (the average is closer to $70). In case you ever wondered why we're so greedy, there's you answer.

the issue is this, when most have finished downloading they will not seed. if you use torrents then you know this.

if there is an off button in the launcher for torrents then all is good.

i'll stick with downloading via html they already provide thanks.

Hi,

I understand that you're passionate about this topic; that's understandable.

Ranting on General Discussion is not the correct way to let your feeling be known however.

There is a thread right here that the developers are reading.
It's the best place to let your feelings be known.

As such, I'm forced to lock this one; Sorry.
