How large (in m3) is your average hi sec belt ?

I'm sure someone has measured int he past how large is your averagish hi sec ore belt - would you be willing to share that number. Just out of curiosity for now.

I could ofc go and mine out some empire belt but I dont feel like doing that enough to get a good idea whats the rough average is.

the ones i mine in usually contain between 400-600k m3 of ore.
however, i have no idea how representative of the "average" that is.

Some belts have a bit more (in high sec that is). I've seen up to 800k m3

most I've ever spent in a hisec belt was a few (3-4) hours ... ~3k m3/minute = ~an hour to fill an orca (150k m3)... granted these aren't in "super dead" systems, so they're not "full/untouched belts) ... but that's still about 600k m3.

That said, since we can put freighters in belts now, I'd imagine that an "average" belt will fit into a L1/2 skilled freighter.

so then, i've seen 400-600, one person claims up to 800, another also confirms about 600.

safe to say roughly 600k average +- 200k m3. based on what people are posting thus far.

Well, thinking about this further ... Veld tops out at about 150k units per rock (in lowsec/nullsec ... hard to find untouched rocks in highsec).

If this holds as a m3 comparison (150k units = 15k m3) for all rocks, then a 600k m3 belt has 40 rocks in it (if they're all full). I just counted the rocks in a random belt in this system (with a miner in it, so skewing the number a bit probably), and there are 114 rocks.

ASSUMING that this is a representative number of rocks in a belt for a moderately mined system (30 people in system, minimum of 6 miners*, 17 belts), the belts will top out at 1.71 million m3 of ore. If we assume that since it's ~1 hour after DT lifted (or at least since I noticed Evemon saying the server was back up), a maximum of 150k m3 has already been mined, which is a minimum of 10 rocks, putting us to a maximum of 1.86 million 3. 124 rocks is a weird number, so let's just say there are a maximum of 120 rocks in the belt, or 1.8 million m3.

1.8 million in a max belt is 60k m3 off what we were assuming provided that the miner has already sucked in a full Orca's worth of ore ... and popping 6 rocks in an hour is more than reasonable (yes, some pop faster than others ... etc etc ... don't wanna be here all day with different case studies).

So, this puts the "average" around 900k m3 over the span of a constellation or region (system is too small, since we have some with 1 or 2 belts, and others with a few tens of belts ... the most is something like 105 I think).

This is the largest I've seen a static belt get.

But the belts I normally mine are around 400k-600k range of volume. Most of the miners in the constellation I'm in seem to let the belts grow to that size before mining them. It's a relatively low population area I'm in btw.

The belts my alts hit average about 4 Orca loads per belt., or about 180,000M3 each load (720,000M3 total). The belts have low activity and are not always strip mined every day so the total varies day to day.

nice comparison, but the thing is the rocks get bigger as sec level drops. even a 0.5 sec system will have much larger rocks then a 1.0 system. Where ever you checked in low/null they will have a max size bigger than any high sec system.

However there are also much variance in size of belts in high sec. Some are small and compact while others are much more spread out. But it seems that over all volumes do not change much when comparing belts in systems of the same security level. The stated average of 400-600km3 seems to fit what I have seen, with the added point that the 600km3+ belts will be mostly in 0.5 sec systems while the belts found in 1.0 -0.8 sec systems will be closer to the 400km3 mark.
