Anomolies

I have a question (a bit of a noob question to be honest) regarding Wormhole anomolies. When you use the system scanner and then 'warp to within x km' are you warping to a pre-defined point in space, like a beacon or are you warping to the actual anomoly.

So for example, if I am doing an anomoly and I see somebody appear in the system on D-scan, will he land into the anomoly in the same place that I did or does it depend where abouts in the system he was first as to which direction he will enter the anomoly? I natually try to move away from the warp-in point and constantly travel away from it to avoid any cov-ops ships that may come in behind me, but I'm not sure if this is the right thing to do? I used my alt to combat probe my own ship and I landed right ontop of myself, so I know that combat probes work (ie, it isn't deadspace) but what about just warping to the anomoly via system scan?

This is harder to explain that I originally thought it would be.... I hope you understand the question. Thanks

There is essentially a hidden beacon that you warp to.

Yes, when you warp to an anom, you are warping to a beacon, called "Cosmic Anomaly" if i recall correctly. You can warp to any range too. It works like planets and suns. You can warp to it in any direction and land from the beacon at your selected range from that direction. I hope that answered you question :)

Hey sky, get back to work! U 2 cips....

Next time you enter an anomaly, try to zoom out and hover your mouse around your ship. You will notice a "cosmic anomaly" wich you can click, check your range to etc.
That is the warpin, so everyone warping to the anomaly from the system scanner, will land within a few km from that spot.

The same counts for wormholes, radar sites and so on.

Have fun :)

Just note that people can warp in from any direction at 0-100. Most of the time you only need to worry about them warping in from planets, and the sun, but if they have been in system for a while they could have a safe spot virtually any where. They can also bookmark wrecks, cans, and the like. Some hunters will create a number of bookmarks in the site with a cloaky ship before attacking. For example a perch 200 away so they can warp right to that wreck or can you are next to.

CCP removed the deadspace sig for WH's and I haven't been decloaked lately in anomalies so I assume the same is true.

@Marsan
Thanks for the 200km tip, really helped me out with cloaky hunting, can't believe I never thought of it, I just used to drop BMs everywhere and hope that they came close to one.

It's really simple to make one. Warp in at 100 and BM, warp back at 100 and book mark your new perch. (Personally I prefer 160-180 in case someone else is making one.) You can sit there watch the action and be able to warp in to any warpable object. It was a lot more fun when the miners jet can mined as you could land right on top of them. My corp use to hunt salvagers this way with SBs.

Funny you should mention that bud! I did this the other day and got a miner in a WH. All you have to do is wait for that can to drop. I was going to use an asteroid but couldn't really tell which one was close at 180 away.
