from reading all the ninja salvage guides i was led to believe people get extremely pissed off from taking their mission wrecks but it's not been my experience at all so far. quite the opposite. maybe i just got lucky.

I think the last time I had a ninja salvager in my mission I was making him angry. Every time he tried to salvage a wreck Id grab it and tractor it away from him.

I've seen maybe one or two people get mad at me salvaging, but I've also run into null-sec alts who just don't care, and even talk it up. The difference, I think, is whether the missioner is blitzing or not because if they're blitzing they're not caring at all about the wreckage.

Even if you are not blitzing if a ninja shows up sometimes its easier to just set it all blue and go get the next mission. Also setting it blue can tick them off because then they cannot try and bait you.

yup, i can scan down a battleship in a about 5 minutes now, i'm sure this will come in handy when i get into pvp etc.

Go to a mission hub, you can drop that time to a minute easy.

i found a nice little mission hub today.

question: do battleships mostly do level 4 missions or would some be doing level 3s?

You want a big hub, Dodie or Motsu. 800+ in local means that you will more likely ping in the first hit.
They should just be doing 4's, 3' would actually suck for a BS because of the large amount of smaller ships to shoot at. Players will also use BC's and T3's for 4's which helps reduce their signature radius.

I run lvl4s when I can get motivated to. And although it annoys me to have wrecks salvaged, I don't let it bother me. It actually tickles my pirate bone when other mission runners in system start crying in local chat about people salvaging their missions. Like telling the ninjas to leave is going to work. Twisted

I need to start Blitzing, but I hate to see all that juicy salvage go to waste... I love the Noctis for after operations clean up, now I can clean up faster after I am done even only having one Noctis back at the agent location instead of having a catalyst in each system. Still have 14 or so catalysts to decommission =).

Oh and a side note I am a drone boater, and I like the new AI. It saved my Loki scram and webbers went for my hobgoblins and I was able to warp out and leave them behind. Not a lvl4 mission though.

And that is why having Salvaging as a viable miniprofession around is a good thing. It's the perfect job for week old characters to get into the game. It teaches them the market, some scanning skills and provides a nice stepping stone into exploration - which in turn is the perfect stepping stone to get your ass out of HiSec and into LoSec. As a byproduct, newbs who get into exploration early and hone their scanning abilities are less likely to become a mindless HiSec mission runner drone, even when they don't make the jump into Low or Null.

Take note, all of you who advocate that salvaging another players wreck should turn the guy suspect. This is why you are wrong.

Unless you are specifically out to annoy, I think you want to join channel 'Free Wrecks' assuming it's still up and running. Many mission runners don't loot salvage.

It took you longer? Well I guess I can understand for the first times but it really isn't that hard to zero in on a BS.

I've improved quite dramatically since but my initial attempts at scanning sometimes met with success only due to luck as I had no real idea what i was doing.

I was playing EVE at a mini-LAN party the other day (just three of us . . . and do people still do LAN parties?) and we were all probing for either WHs or complexes when I heard one guy say "WTF, how did you do that?" What I "did" was hold the alt key so that all my probes would scale up/down while remaining in formation.

The guy was smart, and was scanning things about as fast as I was . . .and was doing it without using the alt key. I was equal parts shocked (he's a smart guy) and amazed (at his stupidity). That little trick is going to save him hundreds of hours over the course of his probing career.

So yeah, depending on how much you know/how much practice you have/how good your skills are, there's no need to mock someone for taking 5 minutes to scan a signature unless you're just trying to show everyone how socially ******** you are.

I am not an alt of Chribba.

You mean some folk actually salvage?

This is not a signature.
