False. A lot of people think that life after death is the real one. Many horny dudes believe that death will bring them a LOT of chicks and finally they will get laid. :D

It's fun as long is't about a game, sadly not many can make a difference between a virtual world and reality :/ James gang is a real example where those ganked cannot accept that all they lost is some fukin pixels, not their real car/home or whatever. Really sad.

I may have been evil already but I still remain a generous benefactor in other games.

And I would like to reinforce what other people have been saying here, just cause I steal and murder in a game does not and should not reflected on my moral code that I follow in reality. If you think that you are confined to playing a game with the same moral codes you champion in your life you are missing the point of the whole"escape reality" that games allow. But hey, sand box. Play it the way you want to play it.

Well I'm off to donate blood and then murder some over tursting people.(I really am donating blood btw, not saying this is the pinnacle of good deeds but it fits the argument kind ofish.

I think the interwebs in general (including Eve) bring out many (not all) people's true selves due to the anonymity. Kind of like the guy who refuses to give up his seat on the bus to an elderly person, but if his friends or family were with him, he'd make a big show of giving them the seat. Or someone who road rages and cuts people off while driving alone, but would never act like that with others in the car.

It does not mean we are different.

I cannot say much about the thing with the elderly. I do it all the time, because it is ballsy and I love giving elderly women my seat (though not when the bus is half empty). It puts a smile on most of their faces. I give it to men, too, but they need to ask and so not to embarrass them. So I am not sure where you think this has to do with some kind of show.

I sure drive a car differently when I am alone than when I have others with me, because I am responsible for their safety, which is not what I have to do when I drive alone. It does not mean I have road rage. I only do not want to be bothered by passengers about my driving and so I drive to satisfies them (not so much myself) and to keep my focus where it should be. I believe I am a better driver when I drive alone, but I am also not a bad driver when I have others with me.

You make it sound like we are all a version Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, which really was just a movie/novell. I do not think this is true. The Internet only makes it all more visible to us and allows us to reflect upon ourselves more easily. This can be surprising and new even when we only see ourselves, maybe for the first time.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

EVE doesn't make you evil - like everyone else said, that's what the internet/online gaming makes you do.

EVE takes the natural percentage of online evil and narrows it down solely to those who are masochistic. Miners who stare at rocks for hours, "PvPers" who will spend two hours jumping from gate to gate to gate to gate just looking for "PvP," industrialists who spend more time plotting isk investments than planning for their own RL retirement, gankers who desperately hope their next target will give them "tears" (or, barring that, at least some sort of feedback that will at least acknowledge their existence).

And when that's not enough, you can always make an alt. Then another alt. Then another one.

The world would be a far better place if EVE truly was the definition of the word "evil" Big smile

I am not an alt of Chribba.

Today in Wisconsin a young woman was being kicked to death by her 200 lbs plus gorilla of an ex-boyfriend. A passerby in a car saw this and stopped. The kicking man, taller and heavier than the passerby, refused to be deterred when confronted. Finally, the passerby pulled out his conceal carry hand gun...made possible by the newly legislated conceal carry law in Wisconsin. The kicking man came at the now gun wielding passerby...who shouted that he would kill him if he took one more step. The woman's life was saved. (by the way, true story)

Who was evil here? Some would say the man carrying a gun because, "guns kill people". Others will blame Wisconsin for changing their law... the kicking man would probably say his girlfriend was evil...at the same time the woman would say it was her ex. My point, evil is relative and contingent on perspective. Mostly everyone is righteous in their own mind. Anyone claiming to be evil is probably not an authentic person. Ultimately judgment of who is evil is the purview of God alone.

I have been permabanned and an admin personally beaten me, for a particularly helpful and in depth technical post on the Warhammer Forums. I can't even play some EA games any more, they banned me so hard I can't enter their websites to i.e. resub Oops

Your point was that we have a true (and untrue) self. I am saying that it is not the case. We merely adapt. But, if it makes you happy to believe in a Jekyll and Mr. Hide version of ourselves then do not let me stop you.

As long as you remember you are role playing then no problem good stuff Big smile

You can tell from the forums that a lot of people find it difficult to turn off from role playing an asshat and continue to post like an asshat.

What was the subject of the technical post? "How to optimise your Bright Wizard build" is different from "How to reconnect a banned IP so your bot network can resume operation"

"Just remember later that I warned against any change to jump ranges or fatigue. You earned whats coming."

No, I demonstrated (without doing it, just told it was possible) how a player could tamper with the client with some very an public mods API calls and also that the Bioware forums have little security since anyone can circumvent some of their restrictions.

P.S. When I last quit the game (August 2012) BWs (which I did not play) were almost extinct since a good while, they got nerfed so much and the melee so much buffed that playing casters was pointless.

And I love it. If you would have met me in another game maybe 3-4 years ago I would have been the most helpful player you could want. I would give you starter money, help you get gear or anything like that. Even in games where you were able to kill and take the item of another player if you tired a little trickery. But then I found EVE. I don't know when it happened or why it was this game but I went dark.

Now, after 2 years of playing this game, I would not hesitate to take every thing you have, without a second thought given the chance. Maybe it was the fact that you can with out threat of being banned or that people just make it so easy. I've joined corps just to ruin them, I've scammed people out of their ships and money, I even start taking candy from babies. And you know what? It is ******* freeing as hell. Everyone needs to just go out and ruin someones day. Hell ruin my day for all I care, it's funny as ****. I found the EVE nirvana of scamming, killing and being scammed and killed.

And to give this thread some point and possible longevity, lets all reflect on what horrible things we have done at the expence of others, and the good times we had doing it. And i;m not just talking being a pirate here either, the people that ruin markets and over charge by 1000% are just as bad as the pirates.

My name Savnire Jacitu, I am Evil and proud of it.

Heh, even though it's out of character for me, I think I'll rain on this parade. Just a little bit since the OP basically challenged players to ruin his day..

Blink

First of all, don't break your arm trying to pat yourself on the back there noobie.

It may seem like you've done a lot for a character created on 2011.09.14 @ 12:28 Eve Time. According to my calculations, you're only 1 1/2 years old, not over 2 years old. When or if you ever do manage to take down a major power-block Alliance single handedly, then that's something to post and boast about. Definitely not a couple of little escapades you've done to newby's.

I've met a lot of very cool helpful people in this game over the years who are still very cool and helpful. I guess it all depends on which side of the tracks you're from.

Anyway, Eve doesn't turn people evil. People turn other people evil. It's very easy to turn weak, feeble minded people into blind fanatics yelling "Jihad".

That sh*t is so commonplace it's old as this game. Obviously you're fixated on just one side of the coin, a small section of the whole picture, just another brick in the wall, etc.

What you should be asking for is stories of Sweet Revenge enacted by those who were screwed over.

Then you'll really see Evil.

It makes you unlucky. That and they actually take the whole personal attacks/masked profanity thing pretty seriously.

Having said that; I would argue that the zero real life consequences nature of the Internet is turning us all into borderline sociopaths.

In short - the Internet makes us evil.
