...the old Raven model.

I'm conflicted. On the one hand, CCP have decided not to make one of Eve's most ubiquitous ships unrecognizable and this makes me happy. On the other hand, the Raven is still ugly with that shrivelled malformed left wing. Ugh

This.

And how can people start whining about the new raven when everything they just saw was a non textured redesigned model??

If Eve ships ships were people, the Raven would look like this.

I think it's a good decision - the Raven, Domi, Tempest and Apoc all look horrible, but they have become too iconic to change them into something good looking...

I know - but it's too iconic to take it off...

Model is iconic and it will be difficult to get the balance between too different/similar. Personally, I find the skinny 'neck' of the ship to be the most in need of tweaking. Other than that, the model looks great Cool

They can't change it too much. They have those models in the store. They'll have to sell them first.

Where is this new model?

EDIT: found it, it didnt look like much work had been done yet, but I give thumbs up to CCP Guard for trying to make these videos actually show us something - and making the videos in the first place. I like it. Please continue the good work.

ps. quick link to the video since eve gate doesnt link back to front page anyway:

So True.

@CCP, please fix the wings and add a larger secondary bridge.

The biggest thing that bugs me about the raven model is the miniscule bridge-thingy in the front. It should be made wider and look like it actually belongs to the ship. Make the look cooler and futuristic. (and not necessarily asymmetric)

Otherwise the raven model's shape isnt too bad, it could use new and cooler textures though.

If they totally reworked the raven, a lot of EVE Online Model ship owners would be irate i would think. Also, That's a lot of money to be flushing down the drain on all the pre-ordered models CCP has sitting in their inventory for the Online Store.....

Personally, I see no issue with the current design of the ship. I would think it would be harder to re-texture an old design than texturing a new model IMHO, but i could be wrong.

Out of curiosity, What's the poly count comparison between the old model and the updated one?

my only issue with the raven has always been the craptastic texture work and the terribad exhaust in the rear. the exhaust has been fixed, and hopefully textures will be on par with the new scorp's.

I hope when they redo the Navy Mega, they get rid of that stupid camo livery. But apparently Navy officers like it so........

Just thought I'd add, they should NOT change the mega shape at all, it is beautiful.

At 2 new (re)ship a year ... we're doomed

All ships need to be remade if we get to give them logos etc, so I guess that won't happen
