EVE outputting to default audio device, regardless of 'audio output device' setting

I'd like to have Eve output the audio to a device, other than the default OS device. However, no matter what setting I use ingame, it just follows the OS default around. Making eve take another output device is no problem, the only way to do so though is by changing the default OS one, which is the exact opposite of what I'm trying to achieve. Google and forum search has been of little guidance. I can for example switch between a virtual output device or directly to my speakers without problem using the default OS setting. The ingame setting has no effect whatsoever.

Any help? Thanks in advance.
