based on current plans, blasters are still highly situational. AC's are still better. a tracking buff by itself simply does not cut it. the jury is still out on rails.

any EFT warriors or experienced pilots wanna theorize on hybrid viability come winter expansion?

You have enough time to train large projectiles before the patch if you have mediums now. Having been burned on an expected gallente/hybrid buff twice now, my advice is to get the pre-reqs in (which you will have if you train T2 large ACs), and train hybrids as and when they actually get buffed. It's always good to have a choice of weapon types and best of all to be able to use all 3.

Yes train Hybrid to 5, that unlocks Large Hybrid Specialization which in turn gives a potential maximum of an extra 10% DPS.

Already got large railgun spec to 4 so ... nothing to do :D

Depends, do you already have large projectiles 5? -if you do I'd say no, and this is the best advice a gallente pilot can give you, just train amarr (yummy Bhaalgorn)



With Void and no TE's your large water pistols are shooting soap balloons at 25km, every one knows how powerful Void is and how important is the tracking penalty on short range blasters ammo
Rails? -bah, just wait and see after changes, you'll still be better with tachyons or arty, no doubt about it.



Simple, better options for engagement and better survivability when active tanked (maybe tm), same crap optimal range same crap fall off dps same crap overall dps and same crap low bricks.
Same crap SITUATIONAL use.

Do you really want to spend time training lvl5 large hybrids because of some web bonus on some paper thin low dps slow brick?
Ask some friends to come with rapiers, bring your Winmatar stuff, clean the place, loot, profit, have fun.

Ah its times like this that I'm glad I trained all weapon systems.

If you didn't use blasters/rails often in the past then I wouldn't worry much about it. Don't be that guy that just FOTM chases. If you liked them train them if you don't...well don't train it then.

What would be the reason to train that? The 20% tracking for one or 10% damage for the other?
Fitting requirement changes won't matter at all if the weapon system and the tactics it's designed to use with is unfeasible.

Better off training lasers or projectiles.

Look you cant have blasters the same as autocannons they are meant to be a different weapon that has a different approach, no point in having 2 close range types of turrets that are pretty much exactly the same thing.

I think the rail bonus is going to help to make gallente boats fesible in fleet warfare. But blasters will never fit in with fleet warfare its not how they are made they are best used in small roaming gangs that can land at 0 and hold there targets there and do crazy dmg so you can kill them in time before they burn out, if the other gang does manage to get away then pray to god the gang has a handfull of decent logi pilots to keep you alive long enough to burn back to a gate or a station before you die and run away

i dont want blasters do be viable for fleet work. i just want them to be viable for small gang work. tracking wont help that. AC's are vastly superior.

if blaster range and fall-off arent getting buffed, then they better do 50% more damage than they do currently.
