For me this ship lacks something.

I think it needs more speed;
more bonus to it's nos and neut range
or an extra low slot with more powergrid/cpu.

The Dragoon is a drone-based Destroyer for the Amarr empire. Splitting bonuses between drones and a range bonus to energy vampires and neutralizers makes the Dragoon an exceptionally deadly opponent to frigates that stray within 12km.

But it just doesn't hold up to it. Unless someone wants to share experiences,

Is there some setting preventing forum goers from finding any section of the forum except GD?

Try F&I or Ships and Modules.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

What the Dragoon truely lacks is imagination in the art department. Taping a Coercer top plating to a brick and painting it brown/gold just aint working for me.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

It doesn't really look much like a Coercer, however it looks a lot like a Purifier.

Noob's opinion but I like my dragoon for ratting. It has a pretty good versatility in that I can have my attack and salvage drones + lasers + missiles or a scan probe launcher.

The dragoon looks damn good imho, but too close to the coercer. I wouldn't mind if they keep the dragoon that way and change the look of the coercer when they eventually iterate the model.

In terms of efficiency, what the dragoon lacks compared to the other new dessies is an obvious way of being fit because, contrary to other dessies, intended role, slot layout and role bonuses contradict eachothers. This ship is clearly meant to brawl at super close range lower than 10km, but lack the slot layout for that with only two meds, and while it is expected to perform most of its damage through drones it allows you to fit up to six weapons, which could be cool, except that they are of two different types, which is exactly what they didn't want anymore on the Typhoon, for example, because, you know, it kinda sucks.

Moreover the 25% speed to drone mwd speed role bonus is of absolutely no use when it is performing its intended role. Sure you will say "it helps me to fight kiting frigs", but that is not the Dragoon's job and it will always be poor at it because of lack of damage projection and super slow speed, go get a gallente dessy if you want to do so.

That speed bonus should be replaced by a drone damage bonus. 25% might be way too much however so i'll let better guys than me suggest something balanced.
One high slot should be moved to meds. It will encourage people to rely more on their drones for damage, and allow for more options depending on the situation, be it prop mod + scram + web, prop mod + scram + cap booster or whatever else you may want.
The ability to fit turrets should be removed, leaving only the ability to fit missile launchers. You can still go for up to three rocket launchers and two neuts, or more neuting power at the expense of some damage. If you go full neut, five is still plenty enough, and you will actually be able to perform your role better thanks to the added third med slot for cap stability.

It is slow, it doesn't project its damage easily, but boy, God help you if that thing get a hold on you at close range.

Fit 5 neuts and let the drones do the work. It doesn't really need a web as any tackle is neuted off in seconds. 5 neuts is the equivalent in range and drain as 3 medium neuts with the advantage of a much higher cycle rate for keeping them dry.

This is in that hypothetical scenario of actually catching anything in the first place. It is slow.

Edit. Fitting 6 neuts is very hard without a gimped fit and tbh it doesn't make much more of a difference. It still has enough neut alpha to drop any frig in a moment.

Indeed. Trading a neut for a small cap booster would help a lot.
And although it might need some tweak to its speed and/or ehp as well (you can make easily a 15km+ kitting Algos with same ehp, and faster), it would be nice before, to start from a ship that makes sense in regards of its intended role, instead of having incoherent bonuses slapped randomly on it.

Neuts are great and all but unless you can fit a cap booster it's pointless because you cap yourself out in seconds. Also even with my V in all fitting skills I have issues running out of PG and CPU due to everything you need to fill the obvious role being fitting hogs.
