Survived my first gate camp

I was in the most recent Gallente high sec island incursion.
I got in right after it spawned, going solo, no one to help scout.

Today, I was in the fleet that killed the mom there - on coms I heard the orderly entrance of the bulk of the fleet across the short route through low sec (just 2 jumps).

I was hoping for an orderly exit as well too.

We had cloaked scouts, but that was about it.

Rather than rolling out with 60 ships, I left in a group of 3 total.

Scouts initially reported just one red on gate.

As I was warping to the middle gate (the gate between the 2 low sec systems), a long 174 au warp, the scouts report a pirate gang just showed up on gate....
**** **** **** ****, where is my "drop out of warp function"
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=25884

They were on my side of the gate, I hit the gate almost as soon as I land (i had a menu mixup as I tried to link the auto link the ship Arazu to the rest of the fleet, it was the one sitting outside the gate at the high/lowsec border gate),
They hit the gate too.

I'm flying a shield tanked apocalypse, (I wasn't taking my nightmare into low)
I try to align and warp away, but they catch me, and put some warp disruptors on me (they seemed to be BCs, mostly hurricanes).
I tell the fleet that they "got me"
I turn back to the gate, but I figure its hopeless, my shields are dropping fast.

I don't know what happened to the 3rd guy in my group, but the 2nd guy (who happened to be FC, I think he was flying a scorpion or raven navy issue) comes through... they lock him up and point him too...
They must have taken some points off of me, because I notice there are only 3 pointing me now... I have 3 nanos, a DC II, and 3 warp core stabs in my lows (if I hadn't docked to refit I may have made it through before the camp got there)- I check, yup, my warp drive is operational, they are only using disruptors on me.... 3 disruptors, 3 stabilizers, all clear, away I go.

FC lost his navy issue ship, but I made it out with mine at 15% shields.

Yay for warp core stabs, a more expensive ship acting as a diversion, and no HICs!

There were none for sale in the high sec pocket

This story is absolutely ********. No offense man, but ffs.

First, you should have just jumped through if the next jump was into highsec, the were camping ppl coming in, it is impossible to keep you from just leaving unless they got an excellent bump.

Then the end of the story is you saved your apoc because another player sacrificed a navy ship to save you!?!?

I don't get it at all. Sell taht nightmare before you lose it.

Good day:

The Tuskers rarely gate camp, but last night (US TZ) we happened to warp to a gate and noticed an incursion fleet coming through.

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14507076 -- notice the number of warp core stabs?

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14507089 -- one of his friends wasn't stabbed though.

Was that the fleet you were with?

If yes, then it was not a gate camp; just right place, right time (or vice versa depending on the point of view).

Thank you.

Mara, yep, that was the fleet I was with. It was pathetic the way they rolled into the system in a blob of 50 (again, I was in the system long before most of them came), but couldn't organize an exit in the same fashion.
Do you remember an Apocalypse that got away (note this toon is not the one I usually play in game) after you took it down to heavy shield damage?
You got the other guy with 4 stabs, so you should have been able to get me with 3 stabs + the CNR with no stabs.
In fact.... if the CNR had loaded up on stabs, I wonder if we both could have escaped given you split the disruptors.
I figure you were probably more keen on making sure a CNR didn't get away, than making sure an Apoc didn't get away, given that you most likely didn't know how many stabs each one had.

No, I still had to warp to the gate that lead to High sec.
"HG"= gate in high sec, " LG" = gate in Low sec "-->" = warp ":" = jump

HG : LG --> LG : LG --> LG : HG

The attack happened at " LG : LG"

He was in the same situation as me... unable to drop out of warp, heading to a gate with a lot of reds on it.
The end of the story is that the Red gang didn't have enough points for both of us, or didn't distribute their points effectively.

I didn't take my nightmare into low sec, because i knew **** like this may happen.

Ahh yes. wondering how long it would take for that to show up on the forums. The exit was rather...dis-organized. But the pews was enjoyable...

I was in that constellation from the day it popped up and was lucky to get enough boats to run VGs in the evening. Galad someone finally wanted to grow a pair and come see me to kill the MOM ^^.

A word of advice about low sec gate encounters...let them shoot first....if you know you can't win, do not return offensively. Jump the gate and continue on. Supposing the hostiles have a tackler / another force on the other side of the gate: you only have to deal with 1/2 the forces for 60s (best case).

@Tuskers: don't you usually try to random fancy boats?..respect either way; you pew good.

Good day:

"Do you remember an Apocalypse that got away (note this toon is not the one I usually play in game) after you took it down to heavy shield damage?"

Yes... it upset some in the gang that the Apoc got away.

Kari has good advice on not shooting.

Kari, we have a NBSI -- not blue, shoot it, policy. So unless we've a temporary arrangement with an entity, if we believe there's a fair chance to win (and what is the fair chance depends on the FC), we engage neutrals.

Thank you.
