Hi, I've just started a new minmatar character, going to skill up for PvE ships and wondering which ships are best for missioning (L2 and up) that I don't need a ton of skills for (yeah I know minnie needs a lot of skills for everything P)

Looking for T1 ships, cruiser and bc mostly as I train up and get to higher level agents.

I can't seem to find any fittings for pve Minmatar ships around here that aren't for "end game" level 4 mission farming so I was wondering what kind of ships to use for level 2 and 3 agents and any fit for non-T2 ships and modules (excpet basic modules I can skill for easily).

For L2, a shield-buffer Rupture will do fine. Fitting is pretty simple. Put in a Shield tank, add guns as large as possible, add damage mods and a damage control, rig 1 EM reinforcer and ... tank or gank. :) Webber helps a lot, so do drones.

For L3, you could just use a Hurricane in a similar fitting, or go for the Cyclone active tanked.

With at least some tanking skills, this should work. Handle with care, though. ^^

you might want to read through this thread - Lot's of advice in this thread

This thread predates the announcement of a buff for destroyers. Destroyers, and specifically the Thrasher for you, should become very much better in level 2s now.

It is not the exact same question as you presented, but many people posted in that thread. Just skip past posts that don't talk about Minni ships. I tried to tailor my post to missioners wanting an overview of useful ship progressions in all 4 races. There are other folks who did the same. You will find we all don't agree, so have fun comparing opinions and finding out which advice fits your play style. Smile

If you do active tank Cyclone for L3, it is also stepping stone for active tank Maelstorm for L4.

OK hulls first: Rifter- Thrasher-Ruppie- Cane-Mael- Flempist-Mach. It really is a straight progression. Now skills. You will want to passive/ buffer tank everything up to the Cane. PVE it is the path of efficiency. There is a point to the PvP armor ruppie but for rats you want to focus on shields. The passive skills you train up to Cane will make you that much more effective when you get to the Mael which active tanks. Bacause you will be active for your entire BS career. Learn to use traversal and range the entire way up this tree. While you are passive take every opportunity to drop a SPR and put on another Gyro because the lows will always be the flex between tank and gank and you want to end up with a lot of gank. Get bored with missioning and build a dozen rifters to blow up in low. Repeat with stabbers ( at this point you should have a pile of Isk so who cares really?). At some point you become competant to pilot a Vagabond or Cynbanal. Win obscenely. Retire to null.

90% of of the time my posts are about something I actually find interesting and want to learn more about. Do not be alarmed.

Thanks for all the replies.

I've noticed that the ship fittings thread that was on the old forums ages ago is gone, is there any good place to look up ftting examples these days?

for L3s just use 720mm arties 3 gyros 2 TEs a DC II and for mids, anything really. The amount of damage range and alpha you do will make most l3s a joke. Needs pretty decent skills though and atleast the 350 dps mark.

Use 650s if you don't have the skills to fit 720s, otherwise solid advice.

You're not going to get to L4s as fast as a Caldari progression path, that is for sure, so don't be impatient. Develop your fitting skills so you can use at the minimum T2 hardeners and T2 damage mods. I started L4s in a Maelstrom with T2 mods, T2 hards, but M4 everything else including my XL shield booster. Also T2 light drones, this is a necessity. I chewed the hell out of cap boosters, and missions weren't as fast as I do them now, but I was doing them and it was better ISK / more interesting than stomping L3s in my passive tanked Hurricane.

This is a fantastic Maelstrom to work towards, especially if your next step in progression is the Vargur as it flies and fights in a very similar way. Seriously Bored has great fits. However note that at the end of his comments, he states if you cannot use T2 guns, that you should use artillery. He recommends 1200s, however I will disagree as I've done dps graphs that show that even with a target orbitting at differing ranges, the 1400s dps is always better. The 20 second ROF is unwieldly though, but once you can fit 1400s I'd recommend doing so, using 800mm autocannons for Angels and upgrading to T2 800mm autocannons from there.

Any of the T2 mods on there that you cannot fit, you simply downgrade to M3 / M4 variants but I wouldn't recommend you do that with damage mods and hardeners. Get those to T2 first before you start doing L4s.
