I've written for EON multiple times before. I don't think I'm going out on a limb when I say that it's because of them that I'm working for CCP today. Zapatero and all the guys over there did a brilliant job and they'll be missed.

From the bottom of my heart I want to thank all of you at E-On magazine for giving us another way to live (in) New Eden Big smile
E-On magazine insights, stories, hints & tips, history lessons, guides, etc where an inspiration for me to keep subbed to EvE.

It was an honour seeing one day my name and photo's in an interview about roleplaying in New Eden.
From the beginning to the end of each issue there was humor and good journalistic writting to be found

I wish you well Zapatero and crew, cya around in space o7

Currently pondering on that EON collection..

But most importantly... does that also mean no more map guide and posters? :o

My wife who is a graphic designer said EON was a very nicely put-together magazine. Sad to see it go. :(

EON Magazine was the definition of EVE Online's spirit; slick, pioneering and defiant. As it passes, a little piece of EVE Online's soul goes with it.

I'm very sad.

aww.

I bought one of the EON big deals on multiple issues a while back.

Was planning on getting some more at some point, looks like that won't quite happen now.

Guess I'll fill out the rest of the issues with these electronic issues.

As someone who was lucky to have two stories Published by EON it is a sad to see it passing. I can understand well the cause and the reason.

As with all things Eve, it never truly dies but is just waiting to be reborn again in the future...

And as a sign of gratitude towards the community, CCP and EON will decide to publish all EON magazines for free in PDF format on eveonline.com because the magazines where so good that they deserve to be read by everyone. Since profit is out of the question of course.

I personally would love to read them as a spare time lecture on my tablet.

Yeah Really i would love to!

EON was the only reason I got Zinio in the 1st place. Can't buy it in store here, and importing was just too steep. Digitally it was perfect. Going to miss it, since it is the only magazine that I have bought in the last year.

For those that said they want the back issues in digital format, you can get the whole collection on Zinio. Will probably start getting the back issues now....

I'll be more enthusiastic about encouraging thinking outside the box when there's evidence of any thinking going on inside it.

I loved EON. But I signed up to a 2 year sub last year and only received issue #29 and now I'm out of pocket and feeling somewhat cheated...

I'm now waiting to see what they will offer in return - perhaps a refund, PLEX or something else? Does anyone know if they're even doing anything about unfulfilled subs?

I have every issue since #1 - might just wrap them up in cellophane to protect them. You never know, they may be more collectable than the original Star Wars toys Lol

Unfortunately EON has fallen to the same bugbears that almost all the late, great nerd magazines have succumbed to. The problem is that the large majority get the news from web sites and very powerful smart phones and tablets. They are all out of date by the time of publish.

Even mainstream media is not immune. In my city of New Orleans, even the newspaper which has been publishing daily for more than a hundred years has now scaled back to 3 issues a week and is going to mostly online content.

Problem is, in this age, magazine content is WAY out of date by the time it is read.

Sad, too. There is something to be said about holding a glosssy, pretty magazine in your hand over the glow of a screen. But, alas, why buy classic stuff like Dungeon, Dragon, EON, or other fanzines when you can get the same info that is relevant and more timely over the web. In advancing tech, we tend to lose something.....

I bought the issue when the new graphics engine (Trinity) came out, to go 'ooooh' and 'aaaah' at all the shiny graphics.

I ended up quite impressed by the quality of editing, writing, and even the player-created adverts.

End of an era, indeed.

RIP EON

Having read only one issue with articles that are typical for the fanzine scene and printed media going the way of the dinosaurs the very second people began consuming information online rather than in printed form, this is not really a surprise.

That said, I do feel utterly apathetic about it, mostly because of the inherent inadaptability of the EON crew to go fully digital before it was too late.

I once entered the first "Postcards" screenshot competition, and I was one of the winners. I received the ISK prize fairly quickly, but the delivery of another prize, the EON issue with my screenshot in it, was a bit troubled. It never arrived and my mails to EON about this went unanswered.

Then I went to Fanfest, and I saw an EON stand. There I was able to see my screenshot in print, and show it to a few corpmates who were there as well. I told one of the EON guys, Oliver, that I had never received the issue, and he gave me another e-mail adress, explaining that the adress I was using was not optimal for that kind of thing, and told me I should write about the situation and that Oliver told me to mail them there.

Soon I got a response, ensuring me that they would take care of it, and they would send some bonus items as well, for the trouble. I waited couple of weeks, and nothing came. So I mailed them again.
The next day or so, I got my package, containing the issue with my screenshot, 2 additional EON issues, and a poster. I mailed them again, writing that I had finally recieved the package, and thanked them for the bonus items.
The day after that, I got a response, where they said that they already had send out another package, and indeed, a couple days later, I received another package, containing the issue with my screenshot, and 2 bonus issues, bringing the total to 5 different issues. I guess the postal service works funny sometimes.

I never bought an issue. I don't have the time to read them, but I did read the issues that I recieved, and it was a good magazine. I think its a bit sad to see the end of the EON age, if only for the fact that it reduces the chances of having one of my stories printed in there to zero.

DUST 514 magazine, anyone?
