that's not a surprise, but it's quite a surprise that there's no surprise coming from an organization whose name is the Hebrew word for "Surprise".

PETA really cares about animals.

Yeah I knew about that. My google fu isn't very good today but I remember a story a few years back about a man who saved a lion from an abusive traveling circus. He put thousands of dollars into surgery for the lion's paws so they wouldn't cause it pain anymore (you know, because the circus ripped his claws out), and over the course of a year it learned to trust a human again (as opposed to being abused).
Then along came PETA wanting to euthanize it saying it was the humane way to deal with the cat. Personally I think what the guy did was the humane way but who am I to say. Sure the cat won't be going back to the savannah but at least it has a shelter, food, and its still alive.

Well that was just depressing, I'm going to go find something else to do with my downtime now.

89,4% huh... PETA has a killing efficiency that would put the tomahawk missile to shame.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

Chances of getting out of a PETA Shelter are less then Jews getting out of the Germany in the early 40's.

Hey PETA was right, it isn't inappropriate to compare animal extermination to human extermination.

Thanks PETA for your outstanding contributions to both moral debate and irony.

Why not, they've done it.

Why are side by side comparisons of different era events wrong?

Im not often speechless... but now im speechless.

But I think we might be straying into political territory with this. The ISDs might not approve.

They are making a mockery of the deaths of millions of people by comparing them to animals.

Two of PETA's more revolting over-reaches. They're almost impossible to mock properly - because they manage to self-mock so thoroughly and with such cluelessly complete sincenrity.

It's like watching some not-terribly-bright kid earnestly make an utter ass of himself; or a cow-orker overly-and-obnoxiously drunk at the office party: painful, but you just can't stop watching the trainwreck.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

They are making a mockery of the deaths of millions of people by comparing them to animals....

......who are dying needlessly at the hands of people who feel they have the right to dictate who lives and who doesn't.

If that's so bad on its own then no picture-by-picture comparison is needed.

Which, they pretty much do have.

Comparisons help us visualize the differences and similarities to better determine the good, bad, severity, or silver lining of a topic, discussion, or object of interest. There is not an item on, or off, of the planet that does not get compared in some way, shape or form.

Yeah, I blame that on the smug superiority complex of man, but that's for a different thread altogether. But rather than going there I think the bigger question is why that number is so large. Its their adoption policy. I know about it because a couple of years back they tried to enforce it on one of our local humane societies but it was shot down big time by the people. Let's just say its easier to adopt a child from the state than it is to adopt a dog from PETA. Reasons to shoot you down range from living conditions to family (children) to criminal records (just having one, it doesn't have to be animal related) and much more.

No they're trying to force an opinion. PETA knows that humans value other humans far above animals. They do the complete opposite. They value humans below animals. Which is evident by for example their opposition to animal tests for medical research.

That's why they have no problem with making such a comparison. It makes sense to them that the victims of the holocaust are useful as nothing but attention grabbing tool for their agenda.

They want us to care about animals and they do it by showing us how little they care for humans.
