Bugged Camera in Space: Shifts view to target clicked on and can't fix

Last night I either accidentally hit alt or directly clicked on the Look At button in my overview while in space. I immediately hit alt to fix it, but ever since then my camera in space automatically shifts to look at whatever I'm currently targeting and focusing on (i.e. I have six targets, click on or shift to one and my camera turns to look at it).

I can't for the life of me figure out how to fix this unless I reset all of my UI settings from scratch. Besides annoying the heck of me whenever I change targets, it means I can't look around and select targets in the overview without my camera shifting to look at them.

I've checked all the settings, including the overview, and can't find anything about this. Do I need to reset all of my UI settings, or is there a more obvious fix I'm not aware of? Or do I need to bug report this?

It's the tracking camera... you can toggle it on/off with pressing C on your keyboard.
There is also a checkbox in the settings in your "Selected Item" window (access it through the 4 bars in the upper left corner of the window)

Ive seen that sometimes even without pressing C that this starts happening again, cancel it, and then a couple of targets later (maybe after a session change) it happens again.

this is the single most asked question in help chat. a thing that is only edge case useful but otherwise nearly game breaking bad should not be so easily turned on. another one of those push button to die shortcut with a shamefully poor default.
