It's fine, your playstyle is a ~highsec~ one.

Unfortunately, ganking should not be a playstyle. Please wait as CONCORD/mining ships are buffed to get rid of you.

Lol some people won't be happy until their mining ship packs the same EHP as a POS.

Too many people think that highsec is safe, it's not, it's just safer than everywhere else, and that's why the annihilation/culling of those that think highsec is, or should be safe, should not be interfered with (any more) by CCP.

The victims have the same tool set as the rest of us, they choose not to use all the tools at their disposal. They choose not to pay any levy that may be imposed by people with guns, who will kill them without hesitation. They choose not to hire people, who do make full use of the tools given to them, to hunt and kill the people with guns that threaten and kill them. They choose not to heed the advice that would prevent their ships exploding, because it's given by the gankers, their nemesis.

They chose to make themselves victims in a virtual world that makes Mos Eisley Spaceport look like Paris, in spring.

Yes but has CCP has shown they do love their money.

So unfortunately your actions are going to give those ships the EHP of a POS.

Frankly ganking has its place, in this case scamming billions out of suckers for shares.

But your actions have caused the wrath of Trebor so now he is trying to find ways to make Hi-sec even safer.

Well maybe you can try Wormholes or lo-sec.....Oh but then you would not have CONCORD to protect you, so you will just stay in hi-sec and pretend to be brave.

I don't know about all of the other New Order supporters/agents, but I lived in wormholes for the best part of 2 years and I know of at least one New Order agent that currently lives in one. I did a short spell in lowsec shortly after that, I had fun in both, but lets face it, highsec is where the money is if you don't wish to play in an area of the game where you have to be paranoid.

The only real risks in highsec are wardecs and suicide ganking, and to a lesser extent ninja looters, and in the case of suicide ganking it's not so prevalent that you have to be paranoid. You just have to pay attention, not do anything stupid and take precautions.

Mining in an ice belt in an untanked/loltank exhumer or running a hauler packed with shiny things through Uedema is a stupid thing to do, especially AFK, and especially when you know that there's people out there who are willing to kill you for doing so.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

what i find really amusing/annoying is you get all the pvp'ers moaning about how high sec is too safe and all the other Shi*e they come out with then you get all the high sec players moaning about how easy it is for pvp'ers to gank them and such.

And now we have the CSM who are apparently there to moan and grumble for all of us....

what ever happened to just playing the game as it is given to you and enjoy the challenges that are involved in that?

And I must ask you this first "What is it like to be an endangered species?"

You are next, your kind will be for ever driven from hi-sec, your security status will become your badge of shame.

You will be stuck trying to rat so you can once again regain your worth.

But James seems to acknowledge that non consensual war decs are unsustainable which means that they die out or are designed out. What he doesn’t like is that someone is trying to be proactive on the issue and go down the design route rather than risk waking up one morning and finding that something has simply become extinct. By going with design there is control which means that options beyond all or nothing exist, that is sensible. Blundering on towards a dead end for the sake of it makes no sense.

Uh, I'm not so sure james does think non-consensual wars are unsustainable. Even if he does, I absolutely don't. We've had non consensual wars (and beyond wars, non consensual ganks) for ten straight years and subscriptions haven't suffered at all (I'm assuming subscriptions is how we're measuring whether or not they're sustainable)

It's still not a scam, all of the shareholders in the New Order knew full well that they would get a zero monetary return on their investment when they placed it. It's like donating to a charity, you give the New Order cash and they redistribute it to someone else in the form of an explosion instead of food or water.

Not all rewards or returns have to be in a monetary form, for example James pays dividends out on a daily basis, while not monetary they have an intrinsic value, that value comes in the form of laughter, camaraderie, making fun of other peoples stupidity, gank ship reimbursements and last but not least, an amusingly written, if completely over the top, blog.

I know that I've had a very good lols per isk return on my meagre investment in shares, and I've more than compensated myself for the initial investment, by taking advantage of the ensuing chaos and destruction and trading in goods they create a demand for. It's no different from hiring Mercs to run the competition out of the local asteroid belts, although it's considerably cheaper in the long run.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I get dividends in the form of IMT (Intergalactic Miner Tears) and killmails. I'm extremely happy with the performance of my shares in the New Order.

That's funny then why have I seen someone trying to sell them and then get annoyed when no one wanted the majority of them?

I doubt James realises that it’s what he thinks but it is what he says and at some point in the future he will manage to pull all the parts he has together and realise that thought. Unfortunately his pace is little slow so I skipped ahead and put his disparate ramblings into that coherent point that he will eventually make directly. You only have to be familiar with what he has written to realise this.

Subscriptions are not a good measure; unique subscribers could be but even then wouldn’t mean much. We are never going to know how many customers CCP has but we do all know that they are making efforts to milk the ones they have with almost constant opportunities for us to ‘save’ money by giving it to CCP. We can therefore assume that subscription numbers will reflect the effectiveness of such offers. They should also reflect simpler things – if the appeal of Eve remained constant then the number of people playing should increase by itself, there are three quarters of a billion more potential customers on the planet today than there were a decade ago, about twenty percent more Americans use the internet today than a decade ago and in the UK alone over six million more households have internet access. Subscriber numbers are a complicated metric to use and out of context make great headlines but simply opening your eyes will tell you more about what is going on with the game.

The big alliances use war games rather than the war system, a one man disposable corp is king in Hi-sec and even if you want to be social and be part of a larger corp you just drop to an NPC corp for the duration of a war and rejoin when it’s over. That is of course if you need to log in at all, at that point a player is open to question if they need to subscribe at all.
To suggest that the non consensual war system is achieving anything other than its avoidance seems naive and if people are avoiding it then it is unsustainable.

We brought the cleansing fire of the New Order to Anzalaiso and whatever that next door system is ...

killed a lolfit mack, a hauler, and a retreiver ... got less tears than expected, but good times were had all around (well, except for the one pilot who woke up somewhere definitely not the belt...) Pirate

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Making a themepark, PvP optional MMO in a time when 99% of the competition is a themepark, PvP optional MMO is financial suicide. Just look how well being a WoW clone worked for SWTOR and it had more budget for voice actors alone than Eve has total.

All it needs is a patch to close exploits just like the bounty system did. They need to make it so nobody can leave a corp during a war.

I'd be interested in seeing whatever statements, minutes, etc that was mentioned in (and even better, the actual statistics if they're known).

Either way, they can't be losing that many since subscriptions are at an all time high. Even with these "lost subscriptions", I don't see it as a justification to turn EVE into a god damned themepark. You cannot make a game that appeals to literally everybody. Some will try it out, find they don't like something, and quit. That's life. Seeing these "lost" sales/subscriptions and letting it (and a few idiot csm members like trebor) panic you into drastically changing the nature of the game (despite the ten years of growth and solid subscriber base you currently have BECAUSE of the current nature of the game) is just pants-on-head ********.

To make an analogy I'm sure has already been made: It would be like a developer of a triple A FPS game panicking about the lost or missed out sales as a result of the gamers who don't like getting shot at in a team death match FPS and considering turning it into a racing game instead

I agree completely. If you try to please everybody you're going to please nobody. Everyone has different taste and losing subscriptions is inevitable. For every subscription you lose because you have a feature, some other game lost a subscriber for not having that feature.
