Possibility of melee ships?

Gallante blasters are the "melee" ship of Eve.

And Eve doesn't follow the traditional MMOPG class format in that it actually combines many of the class types.

Logis are both tanks and healers
Carriers represent a new class of super tanks and super healers indentical to logis, but more uber + a DPS role.
SuperCarriers represent a super-duper tank, super healer, also a DPS role.
Dreads represent a DPS + tank role.
Titans represent a tank + DPS role as well with the addition of a transportation role.

lot of redundancy it some of the roles. Others are skewed.

well, short ranged ships are pretty much 'melee' of EVE

Yes! Light sabers on ships that can do damage to shield, armor, and hull at the same time!

No, this is a stupid idea and the OP should feel bad. Even in the stupid movie where they had light sabers, there weren't ships with light sabers strapped to them >< Unless we can somehow make Voltron or some stupidity, there's no call for swords, etc in this game.

EVE-O is not in any way defined by any one ship being locked into a class the way other games do for their characters/toons/whatever.

A destroyer can also be "R/DPS"as well as "melee," for instance (LM Corax vs. Rocket Talwar, say. Or more to the point, each of those ships being able to fit and use either system.).

That's the beauty of EVE, and what makes it what it is: Anything can be anything anytime, within reasonable limits.

Please, keep your "other-MMO"-informed preconceptions well away from this one, thank you!

I thought the whole idea sounded stupid, but then I pictured myself in a Stabber Fleet Issue, with a 100mn Microwarpdrive AND some kind of ramming spike/fist/horn in the highslots, overheating towards another ship in order to physically impale it.

I required no less than three paper tissues and a cig afterwards.

Please stop comparing wow and other clones to eve, we do not need melee; we are in space! What do you propose some getting out of your pod and punching someone's ship ?? It's a stupid idea. We already have kinetic based weapons. This is eve it's unique and the best mmo. Go back to wow.
