Would this be a good time to ask what CCP have in mind for helping to boost voter turnout this time around? I hear something is in the works, but there's been very little actually said - that I've been able to find, at least.

It might be a controversial suggestion, but, given that the live teams, etc. are making a resurgence; would it be possible to promote an in-game RP'd boost to player awareness of the event? - rather than rely on login banners, and news articles, etc. that, while good, could be better...

For example (controversial) have CONCORD run an in-game mass-mail 'awareness' campaign, with links to the relevant CSM info?

Stage one - RP'ing a request for volunteers to meet with CONCORD, to discuss the issues facing New Eden.
Stage two - Vote request, listing the approved candidates, and a request to the capsuleer community to help narrow-down the selection.
Stage three - Final lists for second stage vote, usual links, etc. and a reminder of when the voting opens.
Stage four - RP'd as above, mailshot to announce the opening of the votes.
Stage five - Final mailshot to announce 48hrs 'til the close of votes.

It's just an idea, but between the talented writers on staff, the community Devs and programmers, I reckon you could put out a pretty engaging campaign.

I bump into so many people who are seriously active in this game, yet never visit the forums, or even read Dev blogs - but when they see their mailbox flash unexpectedly, never fail to click it...

Sure, you'd get the odd person whining about unsolicited mail - but generally, we whine about everything, anyway.

I'd very much like to hear what CCP has planned, currently though.

Not really the same thing between a brand mass mailing everyone about his new product and the State offering an informative and objective mail about a large panel of new products from different brands to everyone.

I'd like to see a statement from CCP, as detailed as possible, describing what the candidates are allowed to use as communication methods. I don't think there is one centralized place where people can consult about this and it seems every year there are some misunderstandings about it. I don't think it's fair that some candidates have better information about this simply because they have been following this subject for longer.

:sand:  over  :awesome:

The CSM needs to be ingame as that is were all the potential voters are and subsequently need Lore to be there, this would also give the RP crowd a reason for voting. I have read a lot of the stuff the RP guys write and most of it is so deep it gives me a head spin.

If you still feel that the CSM does not belong in game it will hamper things but might I then suggest that an awareness campaign start soon in the login in flash screens. To familiarize people with the CSM long before the election and increase awareness.

I understand your argument, but I lean towards not changing my opinion - i.e. the CSM doesn't fit ingame. The CSM sits in the meta-game, channeling stuff into EVE and out from EVE.

I think that answers that question.

It seems pretty dull so far this year

And that is even with CCP releasing the final candidate list on April fools day.

That could lead to the slippery slope of eventually having pictures and trashy signatures on the forums again.

But it is strange there is no crying emoticon to use.
