Sov from a impatial point of veiw

i do believe the current mechanic for sov is bad, but any proposed changes ive seen so far would cause to many problems so i thought i pop on and put forward my own proposal.

The problem seems to be how easy it is to defend huge regions of space with little to no risk, the risk needs to be bought back into the game, were a small band of stolheart warriors can cause major problems, tho when i say small i don't mean a gang of 5 ;) small these days is prob 100 with caps.

My idea comes actually from a post about how easy it is to travel for defenders and how hard for aggressors. I believe all stations and substations should be linked via subspace or how ever you want to call it, so that its possible to break a link in a chain to disrupt operations of many systems.

so your home base is your base of operations, then you have this link to another station, which is then linked to another and so on, if that a link is then broken along that line you lose communication with your other stations further down the link, which would mean you could no longer jump to them or activate anything other than modest defenses at a nerfed rate. This would mean the more space that you held the harder it would be to hold on to them.

As however the problem of alliances means this could be maneuvered around, so all corps that join a alliance must have there Home pos links to the alliance Pos, this would mean if the link between the Home Pos and the Alliance Pos was broken, then they would suffer default nerfs to there shield and damage of all there items of say 25% or you could nerf the base shield and damage of pos and have it as a 25% bonus for being linked to the alliance HQ.

Each link would follow the stargate system and have a module (ie the sovereignty claim thingy) that's needed to be in each system separating in order to be linked.

I really don't think we need another Sov thread. Not to mention the Null/High Indy threads have raged on over the past few months, and almost always ignored by CCP. So it really is pointless.

Actually the fact that this is my main, and that i can only play casual due to my work and stuff, means i have no interest in actually joining a null sec alliance, hence the reason why i am impartial in this matter as it wouldn't effect me but as i had the idea i thought i would post it non the less.

Posting in generic Sov/Nerf Hisec/Nerf Lowsec/Nerf Nullsec thread.

So you had an amazing idea on how to fix it as an 'impatial' observer...admitting to having no idea on how sov works because you have no desire to join a sov-holding entity?....

Eve has, by necessity of survival, become a place where only large groups propser in the 0.0 sov game, and the logistical/organizational infrastructure has grown up to accomodate that style of game.

The problem with any new iteration of the sov mechanics to favor small group tactics, is that they also will greatly favor large organized groups.

If a small alliance able to field a 20-50 sized gang is able to contest and take sov, what do you think a large alliance able to field a hundred 20-50 sized gangs would be able to do?

Edit: I would venture to speculate that 0.0 entities are pushing hard for new sov mechanics because:

a) let's face it, sov grinding *is* boring
b) if sov grinding stopped being boring, they could take more space more easily

Thus, I theorize that if CCP did change sov mechanics to enable smaller groups, that the large alliances would become more aggressive, taking over what small groups that still exist.

An thus the big blue donut gets a few more calories added to it.

I see the ISDs missed the crappiest thread of all.

They lock the bigger ones and leave this train wreck.

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

Impartially speaking, Sov is a great place to pick up chics.

That is all. Shocked

Hi,

We appreciate your intention, but you need to avoid posting troll-bait; posts such as this, from an unfamiliar view point, only really serve to provoke the ire of your fellow forum users.

Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.
