What about buying the BC and then reprocessing the ship. The minerals might give you the higher value, would it not?

no, as explained in detail in the other threads about this

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

For anyone thinking about buying below cost mining barges/cruisers/battle cruisers/battleships with the intent on selling them for more in the future should take a look at this link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Call_option

The potentially fatal assumption is that minerals prices will remain at current prices up until the point you want to sell. You are not betting on ship prices but the minerals that they are made out of.

It's because CCP has only just increased the build costs for the BC's. There are thousands, if not tens of thousands, built in advance of this change. So people are currently dumping them at lower prices, because for them it's still massive profit.

I built thousands, and I'm a small fish.
Try hundreds of thousands.

True, but also:

There is a fair bit of a buffer, but it's also pretty hit or miss guessing how long it will take for the prices to equalize. IE, price of battlecruisers to come up to where the price of minerals are. Mineral prices could stand to drop 20% (which is pretty significant) without you losing any money, so it can be a worthwhile investment, but it's really a question of, can you bear to have the isk tied up? Some people will argue the fallacy that tieing up your money in an investment like this will cost you the money you could have made day trading, but that is under the assumptiong that you would otherwise be doing daytrading. For many of us, this is simply not the case.

Spot on, Money invested in BC's now could be worth 20% more in x months time when stocks dry up assuming no other changes take place.

Money left in your wallet is likely to be worth much less in x months time due to the massive influx of isk into Eve onlne.

Therefore, if you have no place better to put it, this is a great investment. Mimimal management and low risk.

Further, with the BS teiricide due in a few months, there is going to be upwards pressure on minerals, with everyone switching to BS production in anticipation of more "rich quick" schemes in a few months.

Supply & demand. The demand is up, because the proph was buffed, but the supply is massive. Also, the guys who are selling at 41, built for 35m or less before the patch hit.

Thank you for the explanataion, but now I'm still confused lol.

Is this not perfect investment opportunity, like to buy now and re-sell later?
And if it is, how come this ships are not bought already by some big players, its like 10m profit per unit?

It is... if you have the capital and are willing to wait for the return....

I did this with cruisers when they went through the same issues.... although I don't have the capital to do much to the BC market...

Its a pretty solid investment however you do it, if you can make 30% on them, (which considering pre and after cost) is pretty resonable, you're laughing, and its my personal favorite type of income... passive! nice and lazy!

How long do you guys think the prices will reach the intended 55+ million hull market prices.

They won't all do it on anything like the same time scale, and no way to predict what size of unrevealed stock exists. imo probably prophecy then brutix, then others well behind. I expect even when they go over build, they'll still be soft for a while.

I bought up some more cyclones on the weekend for under 34mil, some people are dumping them cheaper than prepatch prices, nevermind after patch prices. People getting impatient leaves room for additional profits :)

The graphs in this post should give you an idea of the scale of excess production involved in these patch speculation spikes.

The ones you bought of me for 34.5 i got for 31 from a buy order 2.9 days earlier.

Buy order prices on the BC hulls cave in all the time, as ppl decide to sell of there stack for w.e reason. Use you own advice be patient & plant a few lowball buy orders next time u wanna buy it.

Traders pinning the prices down errryday.

I suppose that it will take at least a year, or maybe more for the BC prices to hit their build cost. :D See you in 2015.

works out to a 3.5 mil profit for you, abit under 10% not bad.

I got the spare capital so holding till they're 50+ and selling for 15.5mil profit is more my thing. Beats the hell out of these 2% monthly bonds :P

Im going to be patient with my bcs and hold on to them for a while. but I can understand people that want to sell them now for a quick 20%. It took me ages to get the isk I used to make them so I dont mind waiting a while longer to make 50% on it.
