Yes, why ?

Defection?
If, Empress forbid, Aldrith would join the TLF we'd be talking about a defection.
His rejoining of the Praetorians is hardly that!

Again, for the record, Grand Master Ger'Ante Otheiran closed the Knighthood to capsuleers for the time being. He literally told me to pack my bags and do something else until he was ready to muck about with capsuleers again. I did not defect, I got laid off, to put it bluntly.

Now everyone, please stop looking at me like I've abandonded something.

The only thing you look like to have abandonned are your standards.

Or are you trying to make them change for the better ?

It would be technically correct, but really weird, to say that Aldrith Shutaq defected from the Knighthood of the Merciful Crown to PIE Inc, currently run by his wife.

Even when both ideologies are so diametrically opposed ?

Yeah? Defection usually indicates a switch to an entirely different entity, usually an ACTUALLY opposing one. To move from a liberalish organization (and that is debatable, considering the last Grandmaster) to a conservative one is not actually that big a change.

It depends for who.

Definitions may vary depending on the individual.

Yes, I believe his standards have changed for the better since returning to the Praetoria.

No, I'm pretty sure that there is a general consensus on what a defection is. A lay off followed by a re-application at a similarly aligned former employer is not it.

Emphasis is mine, and here lies the misunderstanding and differences of appreciation.

However I can understand that "defection" was probably a strong choice of word.

At 8.15 EVE time this morning forces of the Minmatar Militia successfully freed the system of Dal from Amarrian oppression.

All Amarrian religious paraphernalia will be removed as soon as possible, All slaver hounds will be shot (any spiced wine left behind will be confiscated) I don't like long limb roes so they will be jettisoned in to space.

Rusty look paint spraying teams will be deployed later today to get everything back to the way it was.

Your men will have little work to do since, as I said before, this entire announcement was an exercise in vanity and nothing more. The supposed "cleansing teams" that Merdaneth was bleating about will never have left his hangar.

At 8.16 EVE time Minmatar oppression officially begins.

Religious suppression... check.
Animal cruelty... check.
Drunken debauchery... check.
Waste of food... check.

And this is just the stuff that is allowed to make the news.

The real shame is that the Empire didn't just evacuate & relocate the populace before this happened, because it was inevitable that it would happen, just as it will be inevitable that it will get taken back, and again and again over and over effectively forever - or until these militia groups simply grow bored with it all.

That anyone still lives in these militia warfare zones should be an embarrassment to all nations. I say move every last civilian out and let them fight over barren, empty worlds. For all difference it makes to them they'll never notice the difference.
