Hello. I'm posting this in the forum as suggested by BH LightsLimit. I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum (he mentioned "the feedback thread", but didn't actually link it), feel free to move it if there's somewhere more appropriate. I did find a thread called "feedback" but it seemed to be specific to patch 1.1, and I don't think this issue was introduced with the 1.1 patch.

In the security agent mission "Recon" (step 2), players are told to "travel to the locked down gate and see if you can get through, then report back to me". The mission has only one objective ("location"), which is a waypoint to an acceleration gate.

Reaching the location in question does not trigger the completion of the objective, and neither does using the gate in question, although (at this point) players have followed the agent's instructions (we have travelled to the acceleration gate he marked and we have "tested if we can get through" - and confirmed that we can). After travelling through the gate, players arrive at a location with a large mining station and some floating debris.

According to the mission description, we should now "return to the agent and report our findings" (i.e., tell him that the gate is no longer locked down, and that we are able to get through and reach the mining station), but the agent won't consider the mission as finished, since the objective is still not marked as completed.

At the final "room" (the one with the mining station) there are no other acceleration gates listed in the overview. Approaching (and even flying through) the station does not trigger the completion of the objective. Attacking the station causes around 20 ships to spawn, and triggers some text in local chat ("we will never let you through! etc."), but this still does not trigger the completion of the mission (although, again, we should have all the information we need for the agent - now being the fact that the miners will not "let us through").

After enabling every object type in the overview I was finally able to find a "large collidable object" that happens to be named "locked down gate" (but is not listed as a gate in the overview). Flying through this (fake) "gate" finally triggers the completion of the mission.

I submitted this as a bug but was told that it's "a feature" and "working as intended". Unless the intention is to frustrate and confuse players, I respectfully disagree.

I suggest that the mission objectives (or, at least, the mission text) be edited to make it clear that:

1. The "gate that was locked down" and that players are supposed to be "checking" is not the one the agent sends us to, but in fact a second gate, located in the room players reach after "checking" (and successfully using) the first one. For example, change the text to "travel through the acceleration gate and look for another gate near the mining station".

2. The second gate (the real objective) is not listed in the overview as a gate. It's just a "collidable object" in a location full of debris. For example, add "look for an inactive gate near the mining station (it might not appear in your overview)". Alternatively, change this object so that is is a real acceleration gate, that simply gives an error message when players try to activate it (ex., "the gate is locked").

3. Finding out that the miners "will not let us through" by shooting the station (despite satisfying the request of the agent) isn't sufficient to trigger the completion of the mission; players have to actually locate and approach the fake "gate" - even though it would clearly not be usable, as it's not a real gate and doesn't even have an "activate" option. For example, edit the mission text to say "even if they attack you, approach the inactive gate so your ship can scan it, then get out of there".

As it stands, the mission text only makes sense if players already know exactly what they are supposed to do. If they're following the agent instructions as they are given, the mission appears to be bugged.
