we've all been there, done that, had the t'shirt. You've looked away to pick up a teacup and looked back to see the pod instead of your ship. Paid attention to your enemy's hp, instead of your own. accidentally blapped a friendly ship by mistake and got concorded.

So lets see all share in each other's misery.

Mine was my very first cruiser. Everyone told me 'run drones and watch drone hp so they dont get blapped'. So I sat there and Watched my drone hp, and they were doing fine. Glance at my cap, and 'OH CRAP' just in time to get a notice saying 'we are sorry for the loss of your ship'.

Thankfully (or unthankfully) I'm fairly new to the game, so I haven't had time to do some 'monumentous' moments, but i'm curious.

WHAT have people done, that they are willing to share, either as a warning to others, or, just to get a laugh?

A few years ago I was doing moon probing for a major Alliance.

I used a Helios for probing and then had an Iteron at a POS to restock me with probes. These probes are enormous so you have to restock constantly.

Then after a few days of probing friendly space I became impatient of having to restock all the time. Especially since it was friendly space and there had not been any enemies in the region for weeks.

So I mounted the probe launcher on the Iteron and just did the probing that way since it could hold a ton of probes.

Then about an hour later the whole ship is blown to smithereens by friendly POS weapons that had been wrongfully programmed. 700 million isk worth of equipment, vaporized.

Since it was a mercenary job it was all out of my own pocket too.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

(if you look at the first five losses they are all within 1.5 months of each other. In retrospect I have no idea how I managed to keep up that rate of losses...)

Biggest 'oops'

Lost a HG Crystal clone because I went afk on the low-sec side of a high-sec gate. Thought I had activated autopilot to take me the rest of the way through high-sec but didn't.

I got a great one.

I was FCing a fleet around lowsec, and everywhere we'd gone, everyone had docked up. So it had been about an hour and we hadn't killed anything yet. We were getting frustrated with having nothing to kill. So I was moving my scout into a new system and spotted a Retriever on scan.. couldn't believe my luck and just my luck suddenly got even better... He was at the first belt I scanned. The scout didn't have point, he was just warp in. So I got the fleet to jump in and warped straight to him, all 8 or so of us. When we arrived we got a point on him, killed him, and were celebrating and laughing on TS. Suddenly one of us said "What the **** is that?!".

I looked up to my screen and realised CONCORD had arrived to deal out justice on us...

Accidental suicide gank with BCs anyone?

Lost a Tengu in PvE.

I was in an Amarr cosmos complex and had a string of bad rolls hacking a can. I didn't realize the rats in there could actually, y'know... hurt me, and I got distracted by a TV show while my codebreaker (analyzer? I forget which) cycled.

When I looked back, I was in structure and scrammed.

Back in SYJ, we were cycling static wormholes when we came upon a C6 with TONS of russian capitals in it.

we killed them all.

next day we found out they were blues, and the main capital force for an allied WH group.

oops.

(though the reason that never came up in local while we were KILLING THEM COMPLETELY ONE-SIDEDLY i will never know)

Hey that was even on the news

Dumb mistake #1 early on 4 or 5 months old and salvaging missions, no clue how to work the market so everything gets reprocessed and sold as ore, Select all/ move from noctis/ and reprocess simple enough. Got lost in the simplicity of this process and 'reselected all' promptly turning everything in my corp hangar, all fittings, ammo, everything into Ore,

Was in a war in highsec. Sitting in my covops at a gate. Hostiles come in and hang around. I report that in the intelligence channel. Was so occupied, I didn't notice someone had uncloaked me and I got scrammed. Got so dazed and confused, they even got my pod.

And that's why I stay out of fights.

Plenty of "oops'es" in my first year, but the last Oops was believing Incarna and WIS was a finished product.

Dumb Mistake #2 Cap chaining with an alt (not in the same corp) in an Epic Arc, go to shoot a rat and guns jumped to my cap buddy alt, clear the message by hitting yes, one shot into my alt and concord relieved me of a 5.4 billion ISK Mach.

Biggest mistake by far: RL friend relieved me of tens of billions of modules and ISK while I was away on holiday. Real Life lesson: never trust anyone farther than you can throw them, or bury them. :)

I've always been poor so i never lost anything really expensive...

Anyway I managed to lose my first BS in my first Lvl4 (a Megathron who got scrambled with an awful 2-months-old-noob fit). I almost quit at that point. I also lost my first Navy Apocalypse in my first mission with it -and then a buddy almost lost his Golem coming to finish the mission and rescue my remnants, as I forgot to tell him that i was in Gallente space and he noticed that at the first jumpgate when the Navy opened fire on him... I also lost a miner BS b/c of drone aggro on a canflipper (or that was what a GM told me after several petitions and a GM-requested escalation).

I was out poking around in lowsec bored one day. Ended up ganking a few small things here and there. Warped off to a station and died due to aggression timers and the urge to pee really badly. Victim, Tengu. lol

And accidently jumping instead of bridging.. thank god it was a ******* midpoint.
