Donators List

Aurora Nyx - 250 Million ISK
680NE - 155 Million ISK

Good evening everyone. I had an idea that I think would help brighten the future of underprivileged kids. I volunteer about 20 hours a week at the Bayside Recreation Center in Virginia Beach. It is a rec center for kids in need. Low income house holds that cant afford to put there kids in sports, need help with tutoring and all sorts of other things. We recently made an addition to our center. it is a media room where we have a couple consoles such as play stations, wii's and xbox's. We also have been donated to lovely local charities and churches a couple of very nice computers. A lot of the children ask about World of Warcraft etc, etc. Recently we have had several, (being 6-7) kids ask specifically about Eve Online. So I went home, downloaded it, played it for a day and fell in love so I subscribed haha. Im aware of the ISK grind and the monthly fee. I was wondering if we would have anyone willing to donate to the center ISK, ships, mentoring, etc. It will help provide these children with their own account, with a ship, ISK and as mentioned a mentor to help them throughout the game. As stated before, I know a little about the game but I am by no means knowledgeable enough to be of much help at this time to them. Just a helping hand to point out some things that I have learned, and some starting "fits / skills" that I have trained/used myself.

As stated before, I just started playing recently and I think the game is not only awesome, but visually stunning. Maybe we could even host a PVP tournament for the kids when they get up to notch? Anyways, if this would be something anyone is interested in helping out with feel free to leave a reply or send me a Eve message / mail directly.

Thank you all and may you have a blessed day.

Also, before anyone takes a stab at me. We know sticking children in front of video games, etc isn't the best thing but it keeps them off the streets and out of trouble. Which is our main goal above all.

1. With the ever increasing child obesity rates in the USA, you want to put more kids in front of computers?

2. This is probably the most clever isk scam that I've seen in a while. +1 to you good sir!

What's wrong with this sentence?

Sorry, I was so concerned about your Freudian slip, that I didn't bother to read the rest.... Oops

Morning Codex.

Forgive the locals for their cynicism, Eve is more than just shooting things; it's become a game played outside the game to gain advantage inside the game, financially and politically, so players aren't always as trusting as they could be. You can't even trust your own mother in Eve.

I'll transfer some spare ISK when i get in-game.

Have a look at enrolling the kids characters in Eve University corp. They will teach the basics, and show you a few fun things too, and they will be part of a large group so someone will always be on hand to offer assistance.

Welcome to the madhouse Evil

Take away this forum and it's not so bad, my 8yr-old daughter mines for me/with me at weekends sometimes while i'm busy on the other account..... yes i pay her a 'living wage', lol. It's all good fun as long as you teach them that the behaviour online they see is not the behaviour thats acceptable offline. She's even made me refund some pilots that i've ganked, lol.

Exposing an 8 year old to the EVE online general population?

That seems to border on irresponsible parenting, but hey...your life. What?

I disapprove of anything that will result in me coming into contact with kids. That and this is probably a scam.

That is a horrible thing to say, shame on you!

You arent even concidering how children are much easier to scam out of isk!

Assuming this is actually serious...

OP... do you remember the "robber baron" period of American history? The time where laissez faire capitalism was the order of the day and there were few restrictions on what you did in the name of profit? How people grew their own businesses and stamped out or absorbed any competition with cold, ruthless efficiency?

Now add "wild west in space" with "Pirates of the Caribbean" (sans Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley) and make murder more or less legal.

That's pretty much what EVE Online is... and I question why you would want to expose youths to it.

I love the enthusiasm you're bringing to the game. It's nice to see actual newbies enjoying themselves, and I wish you a long and fun career in our world.

Great idea on introducing the kiddos into the game, but I would recommend one dramatic change. Use the test server, not the regular EVE world. We tend to be very cut-throat on EVE tranquility, and the meta-game could, honestly, be dangerous for the young ones. The test server has a few more limitations on it that'd make things easier on the kids.

7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY? No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided. --Eve New Player Guide

I'm inclined to agree with Jensaro.

That, and anything in Eve that asks you specifically to donate isk, is a scam. Except for (Your corporation/name here. contact me about negotiating an agreement) who is a trustworthy individual/organization/group.

Yes, I will have to introduce them to the test server to get used to shooting other people, that is Singularity correct?

DISCLAIMER

For all the people who mentioned. All "kids" who will play eve online at our rec center will be of 14 years of age or older and must have a consent form signed by their parent or legal guardian. This is a standard procedure we use for all games played here, ie. Call of Duty, Halo, Assassin's Creed etc. To most of us there games might be a big deal, but I realized when playing Crisis 3 the other day the "F" word being thrown around in the story mode of the game quite frequently.

Also, the "smart" comments about children etc, is unwanted and unwelcome. If you can't post and act as an adult, please move to the next topic. We are talking about under privileged children, teenagers and ever some young adults here. No need to show disrespect because you had a terrible upbringing and didn't have a happy alternative to look forward too after school.

One more note that made me giggle, ALL of the kids that come here MUST participate in 1 hour of physical activities before playing video games. Such as soccer, basketball, volleyball etc. Also we encourage kids to sit down with our mentors and get help with their homework. We are not promoting kids to sit in front of a television screen or computer monitor, but some kids just don't find playing sports all day entertaining. I believe we have an excellent program here, and the numerous awards from the city reflect as such.

That is all, I hope everyone enjoys their weekend and don't forget to set your clocks forward!

So far this is all just a bunch of text on a forum. If you're going to continue with this then I believe that you should provide some proof.

Does this community center have a web presence that we can read about? Most municipal community programs have such things in place so as to provide information for possible supporters and partners.

Basically, PROOF or it didn't happen!

Idea

Until then this is considered as a creative social scam.

Just get them all into the same corp and war dec people. You could also get them to create a special forum account that specializes in extorting and scamming isk from people.

Yes, I too would like to encourage underprivileged inner city kids to band together, form gangs and then go out and shake down the local population for their material assets. Should that fail, unleash violence on said local population!

Lol

The small corp and wardecing would be fun, but I think they will need to learn more about the game before they dive into any of that sort of activity.

Manufacturing drugs in low sec is also a very good venture for new inner city kids. It could provide them with a variety of real world knowledge that they could apply to business. It would no longer be just for fun, but as a learning venture - honing and improving their skills. Helping them to work together to cohesively deceive other individuals in order to turn a profit. Scoping others assets before declaring war on their "Turf" *Null Sec* and experiencing that blob that ensues.
