Is there a preferred Carrier these days?

I am out of the loop and I can't be bothered to dig through a years worth of nerfs and updates. I can train all 4 carriers and when I left the Archon was the way to go. These days however I am sensing (maybe) that the Thanatos is back in high standings again do to it's DPS and things like roaming Sentry drone spewing carrier blobs.

So which, if any, are the go to ships of the era?

The reason I ask is because I'll probably just AFK my way to Lv 5 like I did with JJC 5. Thx.

Fighter Dmg bonuses don't translate to Drones.

Can't answer your other question, I don't fly Carriers.

10 Sentries (standard for a carrier) for a good carrier pilot and that can be increased to 15 if you really want to, and they are more effective than waiting on flight time for fighters.

And Sentries are affected by drone upgrades.

look your smarter already. :)

Things that keep me up at night;  Why do we use a voice communication device to send telegraphs? Moore's Law should state, Once you have paid off the last PC upgrade you will need another.

Well duh, but what does all that have to do with the Thanatos's Fighter dmg bonus not effecting Sentries which was all I was speaking too?

While Alara does have a preternatural ability for being wrong, what you just said had absolutely nothing to do with what she said.

The Archon is the ship of choice if you plan to fly a Triage Carrier due to the massive armour resistance bonus.

If not then I'd go with the Thanatos. It's a fantastic Carrier that earned it's reputation.

Yes the Fighter bonus does not effect drone damage and the drone mods do not effect the fighters but you're not a one man army, piloting a Capital sized drone-boat.

What it is, is a logistic vessel first and foremost and the ship exists to support the rest of the fleet through its immense remote repair capabilities.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

Has the Nidhogger come into style for anything? I was half thinking about going Capital by the end of the year and if I did ascetically it's my favorite of the Carriers. I know it was dumped on a lot before the Carrier tweak, I haven't heard much about it since.

It's still the Black Sheep of the carrier line up, though Fozzie did say that CCP realized it was in bad shape, so who knows in a few years it might be brought in line with the others. Or the others could be nerfed down to it's level Battle cruiser re-blance style.

But I do agree it's my favorite looking carrier as well.

Archon is probably the preferred carrier since it's optimal for boot fleets due to its bonuses to armor resists and the extra low slot it has over the Thanatos, and for armor triage because its second range bonus is to energy rather than shield and again because of the extra low slot. The Archon does lose a mid slot compared to the Thanatos but a cap power relay is better than a cap recharger and the extra low slots again help with active tank if a carrier in triage becomes primaried.

But of course, nothing beats the Nidhoggur for structure repping or mixed capfleet triage. It's not really useful for much other than that though...

They should fix the typo in Thanatos stats, it should be 5% to drone damage per level :)

The Thanny would be ridiculously powerful if they actually did change that stat.
