It appears my reply got ganked ...

I forgot to control C before hitting post.

In general I think this program is a great idea. There are many trusted users here on the forums that I would not mind editing, moving or even locking my threads. I am sure CCP Spitfire tires of my countless reporting of threads in the wrong location.

Best,
AG

Out of curiosity, would it also include the in-game moderation that ISD used to do in the 'newbie' channel?

The in-game team are known as STAR and you can read more about them at this link.

The CCL will be forum focused and part of that can be assisting players in the New Citizens and Trial Citizens sections.

I have to say this is a very good move of trust on CCPs behalf. The company I work for has a large online customer community and our customers are the moderation team. They have the full ability ban hammer and to be honest, we don't see much problem with it at all. They also dictate the structure and layout of the forums and keep them running.

All we do is look after the hardware/software and pick up the escalations from it! Works brilliantly.

My sin needs no assistance, kthx.

This is my signature. There are many others like it, but this one is mine.

Someday, this signature may save my life.

Can one opt out of reading certain forum sections? Say, "I won't do CAOD or general discussion, rest is ok"?

Does that mean that the CSM will be dismantled if this takes off, as that seems awfully close to the original mission statement of the council?

On a semi-serious note: I demand that ISD members (supposedly active players one and all) have bi-monthly PvP matches against CCP Devs (allegedly casual players at best) to force home whatever balance issue is relevant at that point in time. Threadnaughts don't seem to cut it any more so can only assume that CCP managed to erect one too many filters between them and the populace (explains the extra group to be used to forward links).

That can certainly be discussed but I could not promise anything at this stage. In the old volunteer program there were people who were entirely focused on Market Discussions and Science & industry. Those guys would have spent more time in that section as it was their main area of expertise so, I suppose it is possible Smile

That reminds me... the forums need a section dedicated to wormholes. Even if the link changes every 16 hours, it would still be a nice touch.

Absolutely not. The CSM is a completely different body and this program is much more focused on volunteers coming to us and saying 'Hey, we have found eight threads today about 'this issue' which is causing Mac machines to crash and here are all the details.'

Of course, we will take feedback from volunteers on game play ideas and features which players are extremely passionate about so that we can present reasoned reports to the relevant teams.

Yeah, this does seem kinda off....

Fire the community team then ask for volenteers to do it for free....

Isn't that kinda CCP trying to have their cake and eat it....

If it hadn't of been for the laying off of the community team I would of been tempted to apply, but now.... No, I don't think so.
Not for the reasons above but simply because it feels dis-respectful to the people who recently lost their jobs.

Rhinanna,

I completely understand where you are coming from here. I am truly sorry that you feel that way and I am guessing it is no consolation that this plan was in development for quite some time before the restructuring took place.

The Community team were reduced in numbers by 50% and we have two ways we can go forward now:

1, Keep a focus on the forums and news, deal with moderation, assist with Fansite applications and answer petitions.

2, Bring a group of volunteers on board which allows us to focus on maintaining a high level of communication in forum threads, working directly with development teams on issues which are important to the player community, creating a series of video 'In Development' blogs, work on projects to assist new players as well as doing all of the above.

I would like the Community team, and the volunteers, to significantly enhance communication directly to players about what is happening in EVE today, tomorrow and well into the future.

This is bullshit man, what's next? recruiting players to hunt for bugs on the test server?

Seriously.

R

Riverini is strange to listen this from you, a man that should know ccp better then others...the bug hunters are one of the voluntairs teams (aka. players that apply to a position). Blink
