You don't have to be a bot to be bot-aspirant.

Neither are non-bots all smart enough at fitting a tank.

It's not a Duke Nukem quote... It's a Bruce Cambell, Evil Dead quote (Evil Dead III: Medievil Dead IIRC).

Actually, it's a Duke Nukem Quote.
It may be also a quote somebody else uses, as most quotes nowadays are only copies of copies of copies anyway.

The 45 minute ore-hold mackinaw is a gateway drug to full-fledged botting

Shrug, well if that's the lifecycle of a miner. Retriever, Mackinaw, all yield mackinaw, bot, banned

It wasn't an accident. Most Duke Nukem quotes we're referencing movies or other games.

If it's such good news, then there will be an official CCP source you can cite instead of the head of goon propaganda.

I find it interesting that Mittens knew all the details (exact software, bans, and etc.) in great detail.

Mittens writes the WHOLE site by hand, it's just him, a dark room, a keyboard and 2.4lbs of MDMA.

Truth. Shocked

Sounds likely, honestly.

It's amazing how he manages to review so many books, movies, vidjagames of an MMO type, and also do the news pieces for Eve. Not only that but to write with a different style, consistent to each byline.

(excuse my utter ignorance about how bot engines work)

That's great news but...

... do programmers who have Python, LAMP and Visual Studio installed also risk being flagged by those detection routines?

Because I'd kinda hate to be banned because of my (now former) job.

I'd have been banned long ago were that the case, running on Linux with full development resources installed.

Blizzard didn't care either, when I was running WoW on the same machine.

Neither did Three Rings when Puzzle Pirates was the thing to do.

I think the false positives on cheating are more often people who weren't cheating in the way they think they were banned for rather than people who weren't cheating at all.

Good. Botters are a blight on my profit margins, and should all go die in a magnetic fire.

The comment part man. I really want a webcam feed of him when he write THAT up. Arguing with himself must be hard after a while. Especially with some completely flawed points he build up sometime.

Get rid of the bots in Jita and I guarantee we'll see a lot less congestion when trying to go to Jita.

I'm glad to see CCP going after botters in force. Sounds like this is dealing a big blow to them.

However, I can't help but be a little concerned about the game client scanning my computer (what information is sent from the scan, and where are these information sent to?). Also, hopefully whatever they used doesn't end up messing with non-botting players like some fail anti-cheat/anti-botting programs out there.

Now James 315/6 and his cronies can leave the proper miners alone and crawl back in the hole where they came from.

what's the difference between a botter who checks his client every hour and an afk mackinaw miner who checks his client every hour

what's the difference between a botter who checks his client every hour and an afk mackinaw miner who checks his client every hour

1) One is violating the EULA, the other is not.
2) One is targeted by CCP security, the other is not.
3) As Macks fill up in less than an hour, one would mine more than the other.
4) If neither checked, one would be mining after an hour, the other would not.

Edit: But the big one is #1. The EULA is not an in-game contract, its in the real world. Its a contract that we all agreed to. Botters are breaking that real world contract. Surely you can see the difference between breaking a contract in the real world vs a fantasy one? You can tell the difference between reality and fantasy?

5) If the rock being mined is depleted the bot moves on to another, the AFK player cannot
6) If bumped out of range of the rock the bot can move back into place, the AFK player cannot
