... and down goes Dagan once again (solo this time).

Raised my Minmatar standing from -4 to -2, so was worth it.

If you can wait until tomorrow i'll help. I'm doing the SOE epic just for ***** and giggles and I'm getting close to the end. My myrmidon is pretty big overkill for these missions.


Actually, when I started there weren't any missions. I vaguely remember an alt killing him once I think, but basically Dagan is new to me.

I just ruined Dagan's day in a Maller fitted as follows:

• 5x Heavy Modulated Energy Beam I with multifrequency crystals
• 1x 10MN Afterburner I
• 2x Cap Recharger II
• 3x Extruded Heat Sink I (rate of fire is of the essence in denting Dagan's shield faster than it regenerates)
• 3x Power Diagnostic System I (provides a bit of extra cap without using medium slots)

The above fitout being slightly cap unstable, I cycled my afterburner on and off to effectively kite Dagan within a range of 12-15km without drying up my capacitor (YMMV depending on your skill points). That range rendered his weapon pretty ineffective while my lasers were hitting him hard. He blew up in less than five minutes, and that's after I picked the Amarr commander as my ally (allegedly it makes Dagan more resistant to EM and thermal damage, although I've read elsewhere that this was no longer the case). I also launched 1x Hobgoblin and 1x Valkyrie drones but lost them quickly and I don't think they dealt much damage. You might want to carry 3x Hobgoblins and sic them to keep Dagan's escort busy, if you can't be bothered dealing with it yourself.

Fairly easy in a catalyst with 8 blasters at 500m. Took about 8 minutes with my current skill build and tracking bounses.

So better guns would have been better -- no big surprise there. I wasn't suggesting it was a good fit, only that it was barely adequate.

I bought the blasters there in system and just filled the slots with the first guns I found. For earlier portions of the arc I'd been using 150mm rails, but Dagan chewed me up pretty badly at range.

That is a very interesting site. I haven't looked too closely at weapon comparisons yet.

If I understand the basic weapon x charge values properly, it looks like just using the Limited Light Ion Blasters suggested in your link would have done around ~18% more damage than the Light Electron Blasters I was using -- and using the Navy ammo they suggested as well would have done ~35% more dps than what I used.

That's before you add the rate of fire boosters or skill bonuses into account. I have no Idea how those calculations work yet.

Since I was already putting out enough damage to overcome the shield and armor repair (if only just barely), it's easy to see where an extra 35% (or more) DPS would have helped out a lot.

I'm just about to run the epic arc again, I'm going to do it with a rocket Catalyst this time, because I can and it'll be a giggle. I used a RF Firetail last time, next time I may try an Algos or Corax.
