Can we have our standings back?

Some time ago, our standings got hidden, I believe as part of an effort to prevent people from just finding pilots based on which agent most adored them. All well and good, but that really put a crimp in both RP and "sanity checking" who you are grouping up with at any given time.

I forgot all about this during the Best Friends Forever campaign, but could we get consideration for at least showing the Faction and Corporation standings back in the online interface, while continuing to hide the agent-specific information?

^ this, while mainly not for RP reasons. For instance, if player corp standings are important for some faction or another, but they horribly messed up, it would be nice to be able to see who messes them up. That way you can talk to these people and fix it (or alternativly kick them).

This should go in Features and Ideas forum guys. We can't take design or development requests.

This is something that the pros and cons of have been discussed among a few members of the Illuminati. In the same respect, nothing has been passed on to Game Design as of yet.

I'll move this thread to Features & Ideas Discussion for further talk, and so it gets more exposure to Game Design Big smile

Folks with the correct roles can already "view composition" on their corp's standings to find this out. But yeah, I greatly miss being able to guess if that guy on the gate was a carrier mission runner or not, and also being introduced to NPC corps I'd never heard of in stranger's character sheets.

I used to use it to help people. Oh well, small changes make a less helpful playerbase.

I can't imagine any con. At the most, it can be shown/hidden via tickbox like Certificates. Removing it completely for everyone is heavy handed. I don't see why there's this urgent need to remove an important part of the game.

It's not just RP. When you're fleeting someone to raise their standings, it helps to be able to see their standings.

TwistedTwistedTwistedSTOP TAKING OUT FEATURE : OR THE RABBIT WILL GET CLUBBED!~!!!!!!! TwistedTwistedTwisted

I loath seeing features get canned.
It is like a daymare for me.

Maybe reduce the refresh rate.
Refresh rate of when player character standings are upgraded.

The only thing i can think of ,
that would drive C.C.P. to such madness,
is a prolonged engagement with the God of Lag.

So.. Bring some ideas,
that could make the standings system more ... less lagie.

Example:

1) Send a request,
such as on the players information sheet,
there is a button, inside the standings tab,
that says "investigate person " etc.

-> What does that mean, in lay mans terms?
The information would be available upon request;
Thus, when 3000 people are meeting up to splatter each other,
all 3000 people would not be requesting a standings update,
for all the other 3000 players (3k * 3k-1 =~=~ 9 MILLION requests ).

2) The agent(s), . .
an agent . .
ask an agent to research an player,
thus a charge for a service.

3) let the standings system,
be disababalabablelel... disableable..
such as a message could be written,
on the target characters standings tab
" data capsule corrupted, try request once docked. "

all 3 ideas take out the lag.

Your suggestion #2 would seem to have lots of merit. It could be restricted to just faction and corporation standings. This would help corp recruiting and such. Where it can be quite important. And this would not cause any lag while being a minor isk sink. Lastly it would still prevent the easier what agent is this guy missioning for search in order to gank or grief, if that was a concern.

They can only do that after the player has been accepted into the corp. It would also be good to be able to see the standings before accepting them into the corp.
