Hello. This game has always scared me, but i decided to take a shot at it...althought i usually hate games.

I decided to create this thread so i could ask questions when needed...i hope that is ok?

Ok, here i go:

1: Where can i find a friendly EU corporation that is willing to teach noobs? I now NOTHING about this game...i want someone that can explain me the very, very basics of this game. But a lot of people tell me not all corps can be trusted.

2: So i just started. Do i do the tutorial and only that, or is there something else i should focus on?

Thanks in advance..i'll post more questions if i have some.

Oh yeah, when do i get to choose my "class"? Smile

Do the tutorial, all of the career agents, and then the Sisters of Eve arc. If you feel like you need a little more help, find the next closest career agents and go through them a second time. You will get a lot of good starting ships and mods, decent ISK, and pick up useful information to use throughout your time here.

you do not pick a class, you just put whatever skills you like into your training queue. as for corps, there is eve university and a few others that i forgot. also check the angel project, a good way to get some free stuff if you need it.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Thanks for you reply, Gianath.

I found a friendly corp, Valkyrie Tech Industries. Very helpful with all my questions.

However, i have been experiencing some weird "socket" issues. "The socket was lost" or something. I hope this is not similiar to an issue i had in GW2, where i would get constantly disconnected unless i was connected to the internet via a cable.

Anyway, just finished some of the tutorial and i am going to try to finish the rest tomorrow. Wish me luck :)

The underlined makes me think you are just another trolling alt...

But if your are really a new player, which I doubt.

1.) The recruitment pages on the forums, the recruitment channel, the recruitment engine in game.

EVE-Uni is a "good" teaching corp. personally never joined them, so can't fully judge them. But their wiki stuff is very good, which makes me think they know what they are doing.

Other then that, plenty of smaller new player friendly corps around. Just do your research. Nightcrawler 85 has made a great "guide" on how to find a corp: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=16943&find=unread

Also. Plenty of people who have their own public channel where you can hang out with them and other people and ask questions, get to know people.

2.

I.) AURA tutorials
II.) ALL 5 career agents.
III.) Sisters of EVE Epic arc (optional, though highly recommended).
IV.) Sandbox...do what you want, no guiding, NO CLASSES, your only limit is your imagination.

Are you connected via WIFI? If so are you far out of range, are there a large number of other wifi connections in your area that you can access?

It sounds like there may be some connection interference between your pc and router if you are using wireless.

You're either going to have to do the following if you are connected wirelessly and having these issues
1. Use a direct connetion cable
2. Be closer to the router
3. Change your wifi channel (default signal is on channel 6) (This is usually needed if there are multiple routers within connecting range. This happened to my girlfriend's router. To fix it login to your router and check the settings and change the channel. The sub-menus are different depending upon your brand and you will probably have to look up online the process to do it, or tinker around.

...no recruitment here please. But don't think it's intended.

Socket issues look like your connection to the internet isn't stable enough to keep your connection the the EVE server. If the client <> server connection detects connection loss it kicks you off / disconnect you.

Yes, you CAN max out everything, however with the skills in EVE currently (summer will add a couple of skills) it takes about 25 years to skill ALL skills in EVE to 5.

chill out bro. there are always people with their heads up their behinds, even on here. also some more info on skills. like has already been said, maxing out all skills takes a lifetime but maxing out skills for one specific style of play can take only a few months.
i would advise you to read up and try out for a few weeks or so and then pick one thing that you enjoy the most and train that up to near perfection so that you can play with the big guys.

edit: here is a general overview of things you can do in EVE.

that assumption was made because, well you see... lots of people like to have fun on the forums and goof around pretending to be a new player, or baiting others into conflict- and thats all that was.

you're probably just who you say you are and we wont call you a troll anymore, but you gotta grow some thicker skin if you expect to have any kind of longevity in this game (or fun for that matter). EVE is a harsh game- like no other

The issues that you're having are not the same as GW2 - in Guild Wars there is an error right now where overflow maps are pulling data from the main cluster and the client vomits all over itself.

In EVE, lots of players are having this problem at the moment. I'm not going to guess at what's causing it, but in the past it has been things like people with certain video cards, certain ISPs et cetera. Your best bet is to wait it out.

If the problem in both games is fixed simply by connecting to the calbe/DSL modem via a cable instead of WiFi, then the problem is indeed at the player's end and not the server's end. It's entirely possible that the current WiFi channel cannot handle constant activity like is necessary for games. It may be necessary to switch channels or maybe even move the modem so the WiFi connection can be stabilized.

When I finally do make an impact on this universe, it will reverberate across the entirety of it, and no one will be able to truthfully claim they don't know me. - -

Until then, I'll just sit quietly over here, minding my own business...

1: There's a recruitment forum.

2: Yep. For anything else you'll have to be more specific about what kind of help you're looking for. The tutorial agents are a good start though. They explain things (kind of) and give a bunch of free stuff.

There aren't any classes. just train the skills for what you want to do and go do it.

Well, you will need money to fund all the ships you will lose while bringing justice to pirates. Combat pvp can be heavy on your wallet, bounties and loot from exploded ships won't be enough in spite of what marketing guys want you to believe.

you should always be aware that you are playing this game for fun, not as a second job. there is nothing more pathetic than mining all weekend to buy a PLEX to be able to mine some more.
unless you cannot or do not want to spend real life money on EVE, you should probably at least pay the monthly subscription and use the ISK you earn ingame for other things like ships, skill books etc.

First off: you will annoy a lot of people if you use the term "quest" in here. EVE has missions, not quests.

Regarding your salvager, it will be put into your items hangar when you accept the mission.

if you cannot find the civilian salvager, you can also try to buy and train the salvaging skill and then buying an actual Salvager I on the market. if i recall correctly, all tutorial missions can be finished with the 'real' modules, not only with the civilian ones.

I should buy an Ishtar.
