All I can say is I'm glad I signed up for the Beta a few months ago and was able to avert participating in this travesty...based upon experience.

Yah, it's not so much Electronic Arts as Evil A**hats now.

In another year, it might be worth playing. Ugh

Just saw it on the LOCAL news station here in Florida.

I don't think EA or Maxis is ever going to live this down.

What the heck were they thinking ??? Or....who duped them with promises about performance ?

I see an investigation into this nonsense (that people have paid $80 for) forthcoming at some point.

edit: Why even be connected to the Internet to play as it's a SINGLE-PLAYER GAME ?

Yeah same here.

One in a million chance knowing EA.

Although this kind of reminds me of Spore , that game had potential but once again EA ruined it by dumbing it down and adding draconian DRM.

The only good thing to come out of Spore was this Brian Eno presentation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7t0kuvz5x_4

Normally, I'm not a reactionary...but this is has become a Greek tragedy in the sheer size of its fail.

It is indeed rather epic.

Hopefully it may be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

I was really looking forwards to a new sim city. I've loved the series since the original Sim City back on the Amiga 500. (Yeah! Amiga!)

But i knew, deep down, that it would be tainted by EA and DRM and issues gallore... So I held off buying it. But hey, I got Sim City 4 on steam at christmas for $4.99 + expansion pack and it runs just fine.

What is happening to our games? Its getting to the point i look at older games for a new thrill before looking at new ones.

Games stopped being made for love / passion and a nice profit that allowed you to do what you love. To being all about money. I think this happened around 2001. Sad

Sim City 4 still rocks.

Why can we not simply walk into Sim City 5 ?

edit: (I'm putting Sim City: Societies/Destinations into another category altogether......)

I'm seeing some potential for this year... I'm sure "Outlast" will be awesome. Looks like a developer I've never heard of (so it's not EA) and it will be PC exclusive at first Big smile

Also it looks like they might have gotten survival-horror right, but I won't claim this lest this be Colonial Marines 2

Pretty much.

Big publishers are a bane to games producers and gamers if you ask me. Bioware went downhill after it got bought out, same with Bullfrog, Maxis (as is now) is just like "Atari", its a name that bears no semblance to the original.

It LOOKS great...

...but even I am getting tired of green-tinted hand-held horror-based camera work (that's a LOT of hyphens !),

I think....(think)....the Venture Capitalists who invest in these thing believe they are most indeed just 'games' and they can do 'whatever'. That nothing about them is to be taken seriously at all.

The only game that is exciting me atm is Bioshock Infinite... as I love all things steam punk.

Oh and Cyberpunk 2077 but that isnt going to be out for ages.

Honestly I agree with you Krix, why the hell does a single player game require internet connection?
