Fix Corporate Recruitment

Once, long ago, EVE's recruitment interface was simple and functional. People applied to your corporation, and you accepted or rejected them. The list of applications was sortable by both the date they applied as well as the name of the applying character.

Today, it's a mangled mess. I understand that it may be a work in progress, but as it is now it is almost unusable by a corporation of our size.

Here is a list of the problems and issues my staff and I have:

  1. Invitations to corp remain on a character after character transfer and are usable.
  2. Invitations to corp last indefinitely.
  3. Reject/Invite to Corp buttons on applications have no confirmation prompt, or the option to enable/disable one.
  4. Once an invitation is sent, there is no way to withdraw it, except to reject the application and start over.
  5. No log whatsoever of application actions. There is no way to tell who took an action on an application or when it happened.
  6. Search bar is case sensitive, and you have to actually push enter to get results.
  7. The application list is entirely unsortable, all we have are filters.
  8. Character portraits still don't load.
  9. No way to filter DUST applicants from EVE ones, except to look at their (broken) portraits.
  10. The application interface will default to male pronouns even if your character is female.

From the looks of it, CCP has chosen to build an ingame tool that would parallel what Dreddit/TEST has through our set of tools that we call Auth. This is awesome for other corps that don't have Auth or something like it, but it doesn't meet Dreddit's needs, or those of any large corporation. We receive dozens of applications daily, and the recruitment UI has never been built to handle that scale.

I will be honest, the thing I want most is CREST and the ability to do all the ingame steps of an application in an automated process based on our own tools. Anything less than that functionality will be disappointing.

Lol.

Possibly the most insane item on this list is the lack of sort. I can't even fathom how removing the ability to sort the list was allowed to pass.

This whole change is 4 steps backward for any large corp with an out of game based recruitment management.

And the invites persisting indefinitely and across character transfers is a screaming exploit and points to the horrible design of the "invite" change.

Also, you can't copy text that the applicant entered with their application. You can copy it from the notification, but when I haven't logged in on my Subdreddit director alt for a few days I have like 100+ notifications to sift through looking for the one from the guy whose app I'm trying to process. I have to either search through my notifications or type out someone's arcane reddit name by hand.

  • This is just like the jump/bridge button on Titans, so easy to miss-click and without a confirmation prompt so dangerous.

May be funny now and again if a Titan fails and a huge fight comes out of it, stops being funny if you have to deal with it day by day.

I didn't think I wanted CCP to change anything more than I wanted them to change POS.

    I was wrong.

This is totally unusable for us.

Well - Other then this apparently being an attempt for TEST to complain about the new system not working exactly as they liked, and that they now have to change their out of game application system...

    1. I agree. As well as characters being an NPC cprp, they need to have it so that
    2. And... as you said... you can reject the application.
    3. Neither does lots of things in eve.Minor issue
    4. The problem being?
    5. Was there ever any log?
    6. Case sensitive is a pain, but basically any search bar in eve needs you to press enter. Go have a cry
    7. Diddums
    8. Diddums
    9. That could be a pain.
    10. And the issue is? It's the english language. Male pronouns are the default for everything.

So all in all... 2 actual issues... the rest of it is just TEST being butt hurt about the new system and their system being incompatible.

While I respect your opinion, you clearly don't use the application system, and you clearly have not ever tried to actually manage a corporation; therefore, you appear to have no clue what you're talking about on half these responses.

The biggest corp you've been in has had 40 people. Dreddit gets over 40 applications a day. While bigger does not mean better, it sure as **** means that you don't have a leg to stand on regarding this topic. Find something else to be spiteful at TEST about, there's plenty of things

Is this being addressed in the summer expansion?

I've recently returned to doing in-game applications after the initial release wore me out, and it furstrates me no end.

There are obviously *grand things* CCP wants to do with the recruitment/application tools but they aren't there yet. As others have said, the current implementation is barely workable.

Now, before people get all "lol TEST drama" as a response, it shows they clearly have not used the application interface nor have they managed a corp of more than a handfull of players.

If the in-game tools are meant to empower corporations to handle processing of applications completely in-game; they have failed. Whilst I appreciate the benefits of the "invite" process (which allows you to avoid accidentally joining a corp at an inopportune time), there are no real benefits on the corporation side.

I know that a lot of these changes were to help big entities like Eve Uni, but I question of they've had a positive impact at all.

To add to Slug's initial list, there is no way to track how long an application has been in a certain state (only when they applied).

TEST out-of-game IT systems are fantastic. Yes, we've had to adjust (and we did - including revamps to out-of-game tracking), everything we've done and implemented is a kludge for a broken system.

    +1 to the fixes.

As added content, the ability to view link API's in-game with recruitment ads (essentially, a one-click to add API's when your applying), and view API's while in-game, would be very useful and reduce a lot of requirements for OOG resources.

If you're driven to threaten others with harm or violence because of what they do in game, you can't separate fantasy from reality. That "griefer/thief" is probably more sane than you are. How screwed up is that?
