CCP: We NEED a more interactive mining experience!

The easiest way to do this right here, right now without affecting would be simply to replace all extraction bonuses with cycle time bonuses.

For instance players would be much more engaged if they could operate on a 45 or 60 second cycle time. This would allow for less missed cycles on near-empty roids and thus reward active players.

Lets take a ship off the lot: Retriever

4,202.51 m3 per cycle
27.55 m3 per second.
180 second cycle.

Turn this into:

826.5 m3 per cycle
27.55 m3 per second.
30 second cycle

Overall this won't affect the hourly progress but will let miners avoid wasting painfully long cycles on tiny asteroids. This will contribute to an overall much more satisfying mining community, and give players a sense of immediacy.

Now with 100% less Troll.

no, you want a more interactive mining experience.
we, do not.

also, this isn't more interactive, this is....

oh **** it, posting in a stealth "buff mining" thread.

edit: it's actually not even a stealth thread, it's just obvious he wants mining to be even easier.

Well...

In the case of higher end ore's any non-full units get wasted I think, so this would lower the yield of high end ores which tend to be rather bulky per unit.

I'm not opposed to mining system overhaul, but I think that instead of just tweaking the "firing rate" of the laser the system should get a more complete overhaul, once CCP gets around to it. Right after it has fixed the POS system that is ;)

How about making mining more like the Asteroids video game?

You have to shoot the asteroid to break it down and retrieve the ore, but you also need to avoid the chunks or take damage to your mining ship.... now that's interactive! Lol

It's also twitchy, and EVE is not a twitch game.

Well that would put quite a dampener on my ability so semiafk mine with 5 to 6 accounts. So obviously I do not like it and neither would CCP most likely as that would cost em good chunk of subs when all the miners running 10+ accounts start cutting down to the level they can still manage.

Posting in a 'buff afk mining' thread

OP, try fitting a survey scanner if you don't like wasted cycles. You clearly just want to afk it and use the audio queue to know when to restart cycles, shorter cycles allow that with less waste.

Posting in an AFK mining NERF thread. Reducing the duration to one sixth without a corresponding cap reduction is pretty sneaky Herr Gerad! If a laser turns off because it's out of cap, it won't turn back on by itself. Never mind not reducing crystal damage or costs to one sixth as well.

And dear lord, can you imagine trying to fit a cap booster on a Retriever?!?

Yeah right.

It's already 'interactive' enough.

You just don't ever stop with the Trolling do you ?

How about integrating a WII controller and you have to swing it at the roids like a pick?

Mining is working as intended. Ok people, move it along, just another pubbie moron.

Just another ADHD PVP player wanting something they will do for 5 minute and get bored.

Leave the things that take focus, requires math, patience and fortitude to the grown ups

Now move along...

For a more interactive mining experience, try mining in New Order territory without a permit.

Activate modules. Mash D-scan. Warp the hell away at first sign of Catalysts or other destroyers on scan.

Much more interactive, and your errors will provide someone entertainment.

Reducing cycle time doesn't make mining more "interactive". You just get the pretty voice more often saying the roid is *poof*. Also, mining crystals will take damage faster :p

If you really crave more interaction out of a concern for missed cycles: fit a survey scanner and use it. You can then "interact" more by figuring out when to stop a cycle.

Also, if you want the most interaction to keep mining from being boring - mine in low sec. You can learn to use your directional scanner as well then.

Cloaking is the closest thing to a "Pause Game" button one can get while in space.
