"spork" appears to be a competitor's version of Spam. And did you not see the "speef" can? Spam beef? "Try SPEEF! Companion meat to spork"...

And that would indeed be the high point of the meal.

I've always said that I would try anything....

After reading that article, I take it back..... I'll try almost anything.

The roaches I ate in Thailand looked more appealing.

Surrender is still your slightly less painful option.

I haven't seen any of those nuclear red frankfurters in a long time. Those things looked good, but they were pretty horrible. They had some kind of unidentifiable spice in them tasted really bitter, but gave a spicy hot sensation. Kind of a burning chemical flavor. Guaranteed heartburn too. Velveeta, Jell-O, Frito pie, tuna casserole, fruit cocktail, potted meat, Vienna sausages, Kool-Aid, red chemical franks-- those were the days. Smile

I feel like that aggregator news page was aimed at very young people. Most of the things on that list have no reason to taste bad at all. The food is just shaped in odd ways.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

Believe me, I am old enough to where those were typical examples of most cookbooks back then.

They were awful.

There was a huge post-WWII push to profit from all the research that companies had did into feeding soldiers that eventually produced the MRE.

There are more than a few examples in that list, although the most direct descendant, the TV dinner, isn't there for obvious reasons.

Not always. But in the case of these recipes.........I would drink a case of it before setting fork to plate.
