If you're going to drop a billion isk for a Nightmare hull, go the extra mile and fit it properly. Faction heat sinks, faction ammo, spend the extra month of training and get T2 guns, etc.

At 900k isk for 4000 shots, faction crystals are a tiny fraction of what you spend on ammo for a mach or golem. You're majorly gimping your DPS to save a few pennies.

T2 tach's are better than faction. So they use more cap.. the extra dps you get is worth it. T2 tachy's with 3 x navy heat sinks with decent skills and some implants will push your dps over 1000. Being able to use T2 long range ammo comes with big benefits also, especially for lasers. Once you shooting beyond optimal with a laser you should be switching to longer range ammo.
Use you LP to convert T1 to faction ammo, its worth it.

If you can't work out how to get more than 1k dps out of a nightmare, you really shouldn't be flying it.
