The inevitable is here: EON Magazine dies

It comes as no great surprise that the worlds most expensive magazine has fallen flat on its face.

After some thought, here are what I suspect are the reasons why.

1) The magazine is quarterly. It can not possibly be able to keep up with events and updates within the game.
2) The people behind the magazine don't even play the game. Apart from one who just mines.
3) The reason for the high cost is due to no adverts in the magazine. Why? Surely some adverts, from e.g., Nvidia, can help subside the cost and generate more subscribers. It's hard to convince anyone to purchase the magazine due to its cost.
4) Shipping costs were too much.
5) Took far too long to to enter the digital age.
6) Hardly any social media engagement hence no communications with their fanbase.
7) No SEO/PPC campaigns.
8) Customer relations were non existent.
9) Editing was poor.
10) Magazine took too long to reach the customers.
11) Even the digital edition was far too expensive.

This gives a great opportunity for someone to either pick it up and carry it on digitally or start afresh. It requires a proper marketing plan and direction for it to be a success.

Difference between magazines and comics.
comics tell the timeless tale of a hero's rise and fall, and there struggles along the way, coupled with witty banter and if your lucky, no less than 3 pages of deadpool giving kitty a shoryuken to the face to get wolverine to fight him, then giving you the recipe for the perfect chimichanga cooked by an illegal immigrant with a bunsen burner living in his oven.

but i feel your pain, my mother collected comics as a kid, and she has a trunk with all of the original spiderman xmen and a few other comics sitting in an attic in a boarding school in kenya well never see again. she only has like 12 of that collection still, and theyre worth about 40 bucks each USD.

They will be asking why we used up all the oil and borrowed so much money that they now have to pay off.

My own tossed box of Omni Magazines from 1978-1982 with the original William Gibson short stories in them begs to differ.

I hope the education system would have "addressed" all these concerns. It was for their own good, no child left behind

I doubt they will be asking that, most of the YOLO spouting kids will be working in the Tiberium mines as cheap, unskilled and expandable labor. Everything goes according to the Plan.

I'll happily take a copy of playboy or MAD magazine issue 1 anyday. Heck, I bet a mint condition 1st issue of national geographic is also worth a lot right now.

I've looked forward to every issue of E-ON dropping through my letterbox over the years ever since the first issue. Very sad that the magazine is no more.

You'd have thought CCP would have learned that making things overly expensive like the NeX, items in their store and their store's shipping would have thought them the economics of strategic price points.

Even though they weigh a ton and I stopped getting them a couple years ago, I'll hang onto the dozen or so of mine. Someday there may be a small group of nerds willing to pay this (at that time quite elderly) nerd decent money to transfer that weight to them. P

CCP, there are off buttons for ship explosions, missile effects, turret effects, etc. "Immersion" does not seem to be harmed by those. So, [u]please[/u] give us a persisting off button for the jump gate and autoscan visuals.
