On a more serious note, Calvary for speed, Assault for firepower, and just BC for average all around stats.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Attack is a one-sided offensive action, combat is the result? The terms make perfect sense imo and are very appropriate descriptions for the ships in question. The funny part is combat battlecruiser.

These are just labels to differentiate ship purpose. They could call them TURD and APPLE for all I care. Does it pew? Does it explode? Good enough for me.

They should have used antonyms. My BC is more of a Compromise Battle Cruiser.

The distinction was made between combat and attack battlecruisers to establish which ships could fit command links and which ships could not. Same for "deep space transport" and "blockade runner" only to determine which ship could fit a covops cloak.

In doing this they eliminated silly CPU requirements for these modules and eliminated CPU reduction role bonuses and replaced them with a simple "can be fit to" mechanic.
