They really need to fix this. Very frustrating.

I've had it resume from the white screen after choosing that option once. Only once, though.

i have been testing since the patch with 16 clients on while doing other things waiting for 1 of them to crash.

so far i have tried the following:

lock my pc screen then try log back in
do nothing for a period of 30 mins
BTW running windows 8 x64 as previously stated.

Well done #CCP #Eveonline

CCP Vertex thank you for taking charge of this and accepting all the trolling and angry slander.

Hi, everyone.

The client freeze should be fixed with today's patch.

I will keep monitoring this thread in case you experience it again.

Update:

We have a potential fix being tested for the client freeze issue and hope to deploy this fix to Tranquility next week if our testing goes well.

The fix is currently on the Singularity test server and we encourage anyone experiencing the client freeze to play for a while on Singularity and let us know via this forum thread if you experience any client freezes on Singularity.

Instruction on how to get on the test server can be found here

I would like to thank everyone who contributed in helping us fix this issue and apologize for the inconvenience this caused during your gaming sessions.

It isn't fixed, in fact, it's worse. I just came off singularity and the "patch" over there is even worse than on tranqulity. The cpu usage is still at 100%, and the singularity client is even more of a memory hog than the one on tranquility. On tranqulity, max ram usage per client is about 720mb. On singularity, client usage is 780 to 800mb, almost 200mb per client more than before the last useless patch! You're going backwards, making things worse.

In standard fashion though, you'll push out this new garbage, and make things worse, anyway.

Go back to the drawing board.

Mate, this thread is about the client freezes and not about the resource hog the client is/isn't! I have plenty of resources, the CPU never goes over 10%, each client barely scratches the available ram and the client still freezes so lack of resources is not the issue.

Well, mate, resources ARE the issue. That is why myself and others I know ARE having freezing issues. Video is fine, the client completely bleeds out the CPU. The CPU at 100% for only 5 clients is 100% incapable of running the 9 or 10 that it did before, like I posted. No CPU resources = client freezes. When (more likely IF) they figure out what they screwed up, everyone will benefit from it. If your CPU isn't 100% maxxed, congrats. If you have so much that a ****** coded client sucking up 800mb when it only use 600 before, good for you. I have lots of ram, but that doesn't mean I'm naive enough to think that everyone is in the same boat as me. 4 gigs should be tons of ram to even multi box, and it used to be, but not anymore. Hence, the problem. Mine and others' systems are constantly pinned at 100% when Eve is running, when they shouldn't and don't need to be. It's the same kind of problem that was generated when that useless unified inventory was installed.

You are indeed talking about something different. You may think the freezes are being caused by the increase in resouce usage but, like I said, it's not the case! I'm not saying it's good or bad for the client to use more resources. I'm just saying that those two issues are NOT related.

If that were the case, my CPU would be burning up too and all of my memory (16gb) would be used. Instead I have 10% cpu usage with 3 clients and less than 3gb of ram used for those 3 clients. Resources, regardless of the new patch requiring more of them, are not the cause for the freezes.

I'm trying to put some emphasize that as I would prefer CCP solve the freezing problems, which is what is being discussed in this thread! My sugestion is that you make a new thread regarding the increase in resources needed for the client, but that's a lost cause, as you'll need more resources for the game to evolve anyway.

You know less than you think you do. go read the original post, and then stop posting. If the current loading of the CPU is ONE HUNDRED PERCENT, maybe you can explain to me how running more apps to load the CPUs even more, is possible. Don't bother though, it's a rhetorical question, and the answer is "you can do it, but **** will freeze as the OS juggles applications through the available CPU cycles. CPU and ram burning up?? Dude, you know nothing about computer hardware or architecture - but wait, you likely remember something about graphics cars heating up and somehow think the CPU and system ram act the same way, right? COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. You solve your little problem, and be happy. Don't talk about issues you obviously know nothing about. CPU usage is nearly doubled, and that's why so many people can't run as many clients as they used to, if they do, THE CLIENTS FREEZE UP. Read the part about available CPU cycles again, if you still don't get it. Sloppy coding and ZERO testing is why we are perpetually in a beta. CCP needs to fix the NEW problems they've created, which are many, and if they don't, it costs them subscriptions.

You can't not download the patch... it's automatic. Unless it was only deployed on the test server.

After the patch on TQ today, I had no freezies anymore. Every of my 5 chars runned smooth for a minimum of 5 hours.
Seems, that the point you changed in the patch affected my problem of the random client freeze for good.

If possible, I would like to know what was causing this issue. I am just eager to know what have caused me so much trouble ;)
Luckily, I didn't loose any ships due to that.

But finally, I am glad and thank you, dear DEVs Cool
You did a good step into the right direction to make the situation better for us.

But please work on on the problems the others still have. Not all issues are solved yet, it seems. And the resources issue is not to be underestimated. Many players have a lot of chars running on one machine. A simple change of 10-20% more CPU usage can cause that several chars can't be run anymore and EVE looses subscriptions.

Update: Even after serveral days now not one freeze occuried again. Absolutely stable.

If the fix was today's(Tuesday):

Quote:
Fixed a client freeze that occurred in rare situation where there were lots of effects.

Then i would call it not the same thing.

We are logging this occurring while there is the exact opposite of "lots of effects"...unless you have now added a whole lot of needless effects for a single screen doing a very simple activity with no other ships on grid...b/c i would call mining by myself in a pocket with only the rocks and my drones to keep me company would not qualify the "lots of effects" clause...unless you (CCP) broke waaay too much stuff this time around

I submitted a ticket today from the issue happening yesterday. So far today I haven't had an issue.

Also, waiting to hear back about my petition that I submitted from losing a ship due to this error. Thanks.

Ahoy-hoy

I'm looking for some feedback on this issue today if people have some time to drop me a quick comment so I can get an idea how well this freeze has been addressed. That includes people who are fixed, if its sorted I would really like to know about it.

Likewise if this is still an issue for you, after you have downloaded the patch yesterday, and gameplay continues to stall under the same circumstances let us know below in a structured and informative reply so I can continue the investigation.

Much appreciated

I have had clients out since patch yesterday for few hours and more today pre patch and after patch. They have not had a single failure, freeze or whatever.

and it seems performance is better than yesterday as i am getting better frame rates than yesterday on 16 clients.

Do you know what the issue was?

If so can you tell us?

I was on TQ (post patch) most of the day and night without a freeze. The day before the patch it froze 3-4 tmes once on both of the clients I was running.

That said, I am still having issues with running 3 clients as I stated before. It is somewhat better but by a small margin. Is this just something we are going to have to live with? If so I would like to know before one of my subs comes up for payment.

THank you for addressing and owning this very annoying issue.
