How to improve performance running 2 instances on 2 monitors with separate video cards

I'm running 2 clients in windowed mode and when I do this my framerate drops to exactly half of what it normally is. I'm using a GTX 660Ti and a GTX 560, both are capable of running Eve at 60+fps, but when I have 2 clients in windowed mode I get 30fps. In each client I change the display adaptor to the right one that the monitor is hooked up to.

I have 8GB RAM and each client takes up about 1-1.5, so that's not an issue and the CPU (i5 2500K) is hardly working, how can I get both clients to run at full speed? Would it be better if I made a copy of the install directory and ran one client off the copy? I don't think disk access is the issue as I'm using an SSD.

Any thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions?

Thanks

How are the nVidia's connected, both on your PC? In SLI? If yes how are the two monitors beeing connected and driven by the cards?
